Nintendo partnering with Universal to make attractions.

So they're losing a boat ride for a simulator?
MickeyMario, you will be glad to hear that all the insiders are claiming all of Nintendo World is physical, with the exception of AR glasses on Mario Kart (but even those have minimal involvement in the ride, they are just for item boxes).

Nothing in SNW is a simulator.

Odd choice if it's using the same ride system as the existing rides. Hollywood's version replacing Terminator didn't seem optimal either, but this seems worse. Is there a problem with Madagascar? Because I imagine Dreamworks will play a hefty role in the new park.

Madagascar: A Crate Adventure opened over a year late and has never operated as intended. There is even an abandoned second level.

Wasn’t it supposed to be more Splash Mountain like with a climactic drop?
It was supposed to end with a drop, but I don’t think it was really layered in the way that Splash Mountain weaves around itself. I believe there may be an episode of the Season Pass Podcast where Brent Young, who lead the attraction team and co-host of the podcast, discusses some of his original goals for the attraction and the difficulties that were encountered.

I’ve never seen a greater disconnect between the two things I love. Nintendies just don’t get theme parks, and the parkies have no experience with Mario (or have it limited to the NES games, which weren’t the best). Obviously there is a crossover with some people, and you don’t need to play the games to enjoy the land. Still interesting to observe though.

For those that care

The tracks featured in the Mario Kart Ride appear to be:

-Bowser’s Castle

-Piranha Plant Slide 3DS

-Dolphin Shoals Wii U

-Twisted Mansion Wii U

-Cloudtop Cruise Wii U

-Grumble Volcano Wii

-Rainbow Road

I assume Rainbow Road will be the N64 version and Bowser’s Castle Wii U. So yeah, all tracks featured in Mario Kart 8.

Alicia Stella also mentioned a “Canyon” area but described it having gears almost like Tick Tock Clock. Sweet Sweet Canyon And Thwomp Ruins could possibly be what she’s describing, but it could just be a “canyon” in that it had a “bottomless pit”, and 64 fans should be very familiar with that when it comes to Tick Tock Clock.

Off Topic: I know this is a bit of an unpopular opinion, now that Nintendo annoyed people with how (and still are to some extant) handled their back catalog, but I still think SMB1 and SMB3 are still good games. Honestly SMB3 is my 2nd favorite 2D Mario game behind SMW2 YI (If we're counting that as a mainline 2d Mario game). I like SMW and SMB3 about the same, but the powerup selection and the level design being slightly better in general in SMB3 wins me over. Original SMB is still good, but has aged in some areas, especially with the reused stages, maze levels and Mario not as controlling as well as he does in any of the sequels.
My list 2D Mario from best to worst
1. SMW2 YI
2. SMB3
3. SMW
4. NSMB DS
5. SMB
6. SMB: TLL
7. SMB2
Can't remember anything from the "New" series past DS, so I just put that one on there.

I'm hoping for an eventual All Stars remake with Yoshi's Island added in plus a few bonuses with all games receiving hand drawn 2D art.

The first ad was better. I know this was made for a Japanese audience but surely even the Japanese would prefer to listen to the nostalgic sounds of the Mario games over some cringeworthy pop music.

As for the land, it will certainly be aesthetically busy and I'm anticipating quite a bit of kinetic movement. On the other hand, construction footage shows quite a few static props that I worry will look jarring next to the moving ones. On the whole the theming looks a bit cheap and plastic-y due to the nature of the IP, but the kinetics may help quite a bit.

Just shows how ignorant you are about Japan. The two most popular foreign artists in Japan are Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift. Nintendo makes back off Splatoon concerts which you would also say is cringeworthy pop music. I bet you don't even know who Hatsune Mika is who also is huge in japan.

No I honestly don't know very much about Japanese culture, nor do I have much interest to be frank. But I also believe there is a degree of universal culture in the world (pun not intended). And even in Japan I'm thinking the audio from the ad below beats the pants off the newly released video.
