Nice CM's

I have many stories about wonderful cast members at Disney, but two stick out for me:

Every year, on the night we arrive and the night before we leave, my family and I eat at the Yachtsman Steakhouse at the Yacht Club. We always request to be seated so that Oscar is our waiter. He is absolutely wonderful!!! He is friendly, outgoing, hilarious, personable, knowledgeable, and exactly what a Disney CM should be. My brother and I both have food allergies, so the first year we were there we had to ask Oscar what foods were made with nuts or nut oils. Oscar went in the back and brought out the chef to talk to us! At the end of the meal, he brought out a special dessert for us that he had made himself especially for us!! :king: Every year, we request him, and every year he does something special for us. Last year, he brought out a special dessert sampler that the chefs made special that had "Happy Anniversary" on it to remember all the times we had been there with him. He is simply the best! :sohappy:

Another of my favorite CMs I never actually met. When I was seven, I stayed at Port Orleans with my family. One night, we realized that my teddy bear was gone. We called the front desk, and we figured out that the maid must have picked it up when she changed the sheets that morning. They tried to look for it, but never found it. Of course, I was up all night crying. But the next morning, the maid left a letter for us saying how sorry she was about it. For the rest of the trip, she arranged all of the stuffed animals I made my parents buy to compensate all around the room. One day, Pluto chased the toilet paper out of the bathroom and onto the bed. Another day, Pooh was watching TV on the bed with the remote on his lap. As upset as I was about my teddy bear, she made me laugh every day when I got back to my room! I wish I knew her name so I could thank her. :animwink:

PixieDuster,

Who is the chap on AK gates that calls all the female guests "Princess"? I've just remembered him putting a smile on everyone's face who went through his turnstyle.

You also have a happy Yorshireman on the parking lot booth who seemed happy to see every guest.

Bad and rude CMs are rare...infact bad and rude guest are more common IMHO than "evil" CMs....

Hats off to the CMs for their great job everyday!

:)

ITA!!! I estimate that the ratio of rude guest vs rude CM is 10,000 to 1. ;) The majority of CMs are so nice, that even if a few are just doing their job, they come across as rude in comparison. Perhaps I've just been fortunate that in over 20 years of approx 4X/year visits I've only encountered one or two.

I can't begin to count the number of rude guests I've encountered.

Oh, A Whole Lots Of Times.. Commenting On The Star Tours, An Old CM Was Commenting On Rex Before The Ride Began, Saying Stuff Like 'i know this, guy, he's nuts, be careful!'.. Also On Body Wars, Before It Began, The CM Said Good Luck On Your Mission, And Left Hysterically Laughing..

But The Nicest I Experienced Was At The Land.. Some How, The Batteries Came Off Of The Spray Bottle Thingy, And Noticed After We Went Of The Boat Ride, And At The Shop Close By It, We Asked This Black Lady About Batteries, She Asked And Told Her Why, And She Went To The Back Room, After A While, She Came Back W/ A 4 Pack Of Batteries, Just Giving It To Us! It Was Soo Nice..

That would be Bob. He was my trainer when I started as Park Greeter at DAK. He's the one that got me in the habit of calling everyone Prince and Princess :king: . He now works at Pop Century at the front desk.

EVERY CM I have ever had has been nice, cordial, and doing their job cheerfully. I have truly never had a bad one. Probably the best one I had was our last trip and she was training to be a monorail driver and she explained a lot of things to me about train/track switching, emergency procedures, protocol, etc. Very interesting stuff.

On my last trip there was this really nice guy which entertained us while waiting for Spectromagic!

He taught me the "Disney" point (two fingers! ) and we helped answer guest's questions such as:"What time does the parade start?"..... We also sang the mickey mouse club song! It was on the right corner of Main Street, infront of the castle! It was worth waiting +1 hour to be entertained by such a nice CM!!!! :D :D

It even made me a bit more happy because it was my last day there......

I go to Disney World because of the castmembers. The rides and attractions are nice, but the castmembers are what makes it so much more than a collection of amusement parks.

I've had a few particularly outstanding experiences and posted them on other threads, but everywhere you go, you can expect to find friendly, helpful, FUN people. That's what it's all about.

I have never had a bad experience with CMs (even though we all have our bad days). We met a really nice CM named Paul in August when we went to play mini golf at Fantasia Gardens ( ). Gave us great tips and pointed us towards the Boardwalk afterward as a good place for dinner. (we had never been over there before).
Then there was Dan who piloted the Bon Voyage on our trip to the MK for E Night...had the place in stitches. ( )
We have always found the CMs to be very friendly & helpful; most will bend over backwards to keep you happy. Dealing with the public (and on such a large scale) is always hard and I give them all a hearty :sohappy: for all their hard work. We DO appreciate you all.

All the CM's we encountered last week were extremely nice, especially Maureen at Mission Space. I had sent an email to WDW saying how great she was!!

I dont know if this is a CM story strictly speaking but it has to do with Jamie Holton from Off Kilter in the Canada Pavilion. On Monday Dec 7th ( Last week) I Had stopped in to see the last show of the evening at 4:30pm. Off Kilter was awesome as per usual. That is about right all the time and nothing out of the ordinary (if one can call this band anything nearing ordinary!!!!) I was speaking to a gentleman whose daughter was step dancing in the back of the benches. He thought the band was good and I encouraged him to talk to the band after the show as they are always great with thier fans. After the show this gentleman went over and half joking asked Jamie if he would bagpipe so his little girl ( About 10 years old) could do an Irish Step Dance to it. Without even hesitating Jamie hopped off the stage and asked the little girl what she wanted to hear. She didnt know so Jamie just picked a song and this girl just launched into a dance routine that I have never seen the likes of!! This kid ROCKED!!!! Well all of the people in the general area were clapping and cheering her on! afterwards a member of the Canada Pavilion came over and offered her and her family a good vantage point for Illuminations that night because she was so awesome at her dancing!! I advised her father to take advantage of it and they had said that they would be doing that!! Kudos to Jamie & this other Canada CM ( I am sorry I didnt catch your name) for making a A very Magical Moment for a sweet little girl!! Walt himself would be proud!! Belle
