Nice CM's

I don't know about you, but I am seeing a lot of threads about rude CM's. I want to know if any of you have any stories about nice CM's. I'll start.

It was my first time on Star Tours, when I was seven or eight. The person operating the ride psyched the croud up for their flight. Then, right after he pressed the buttons on the control panel, he says:

"May the Force be with you, 'cause I won't."

And then he leaves us to our adventure.

Anyone else meet a nice CM who deserves recognition?

I would have to give a big thumbs up to Mike who runs the Dive Quest Tour at THe Living Seas. My wife and I have done this tour twice and had him both times. He went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable, even so much as to be their handing you towels when you get out of the water. :sohappy:

Just over Thanksgiving I talked with a very nice CM at the boat dock while waiting for the boat back to the Wilderness Lodge/Fort Wilderness Campground. Very friendly, very talkative and very pro-Disney, as I wish all the CM's were ;) Again, for every rude or unpleasant CM, there are always three to balance it, at least. I wish they could all be happy, but I imagine its hard to get 55,000+ people to be happy all the time and love Disney as much as they should.

Some people see it as "just a job". Like the guy taking fastpasses at HM one time who was complaining to me and anyone who would listen that he had to stay until 12:00am and just wanted to go home (he looked sick, still no excuse). I should have said something to him, but it was obvious he was in a bad mood and I was there to have fun, not enforce proper CM behavior ;). But others are there to "make magic" and they are always around. For instance, on the same trip into HM, the CM that loaded us into the "doorless chamber" was one of the best I have seen at playing the part they are supposed to.

I know some nice Cm's...

There is this female Cm, that I ALWAYS see on Main Street, and shes really nice. She does Crowd Control, and I always see her, and always gotta talk. She let me direct the foot traffic one night...

Along with Chris, who is on these boards, and works Safari at AK. He also does MK crowd control...

And my cousin works at the Kilimanjaro also, but we havent talked in awhile...

Then there's Lourdes, My friend in the TOT gift shop, who is amazingly nice...She truely does put the guests first...except when we have FP's for Tower, and we end up talking and we miss them:lol: ... If any of you see "Lourdes" or "Maria" (she wears both tags) in the TOT shop, tell her Tifani and Patrick said hi...

Then there was the CM who gave me a million extra gift bags at the Happy Haunts event...that was nice...

Epcot has the nicest Cm's though. Kenan, of course, is a great friend, when hes working or not. All the MS Cm's who kept messing with me all summer long. The people who helped me the day I wasnt feeling to well at Epcot...Kenan's Manager (old manager?) was really nice...

Then my dad, who is a CM, and everyone at his office are very nice...When there at work. When their over the house, its a different story...

And my Grampa, who works at MGM also, is of course nice (Bill at Oscars)...

My mom WAS a really nice Cm when she worked at Fort Wilderness...

Everyone I know from school that works at AK, and Toontown Merchandise...there nice too (at the workplace...at school...well..)

I have come across a few rude Cm's, but there as so many nice ones as well:D

There was the nicest CM in the Christmas store in MGM (the 1 by ToT) she offered package pick-up and my mom said we weren't going to do that more in the park so she would carry. The lady offered to bring it to the front on our lunch break so it would be there in the hour and half later when we left the park. See now thats going out of your way for a guest. There's tons more. Especially Tom from Chicago who does the no bag line at MK. lol Saw him 2 days in a row and we were in touch. lol We can always complain about horrible Chicago weather.

I was starting to get concerned about us as cast members with all these bad threads around... by the way here is a great program to be involved in if you are a frequent visitor to WDW...http://whatwouldwaltdo.com/

Psychology will tell you it is more effective reward good beavior than it is to punish bad.

Bad CM's are the exception. Most are very good and go out of their way to help guests. Even people who think that a CM is rude to them, often don't understand that safety concerns take first place at all Disney parks and sometimes guests consider this to be less than Magical.

Jonathon from Animal Kingdom

He was one of the head honchos of the park--he made everything better after a HUGE misunderstanding from a very rude seasonal CM. I had a private meeting with him and we discussed what happened. He really was the greatest, and I emailed Disney, let them know, and Jonathon emailed back, or so it said, haha.

While I can't recall any one particular story...it is the majority of CMs that make coming to the World so pleasant...nowhere in the world can you find such great people...

Bad and rude CMs are rare...infact bad and rude guest are more common IMHO than "evil" CMs....

Hats off to the CMs for their great job everyday!

I have an example of a nice cm we encountered this past October. My 5 year old had been patiently waiting for popcorn for about an hour. We finally stopped for some just outside Mousegear in Epcot. I handed her the popcorn in her stroller and we started walking again. About 20 yards later I realized I was walking on something crunchy. Sure enough my daughter had spilled the entire box.
She was sitting in her stroller with huge tears pouring down her cheeks. Before I could even decide what to do, a cm approached us and told my daugter not to cry, she would get her some more. Sure enough she went back to the popcorn stand and refilled the entire box.
Not a huge deal but it made my day not to have to either put up with a sad sad child or buy another overpriced container of popcorn. :sohappy:

I love housekeeping! You will never fully understand why unless YOUR life is that of a stay at home mother. Seriously, they're always wonderful... they always do a fantastic job with our rooms. (And we are NOT easy to clean up after!) And last trip our towels were made into these kinda origami ducks and monkeys. SOOOOOOO CUTE! Best part... chocolates on the pillows! :slurp: One of the best parts of the trip for my kids!

All park cm's have always been fabulous. ('cept one, but she doesn't matter. ;) )

On my last trip I was pushing my mother in her new wheelchair. Unfortunately one of the footrests was slipping down. The only way to tighten it is with an Allen / Hex key. Something I don’t carry when in Magic Kingdom. I stopped my City Hall and within five minutes a maintenance CM appeared and was able to do the honours. Great CM’s all round.

Quite a few of the security guards doing the bag searches enjoy sharing a joke. Particularly at Animal Kingdom.

At school today, I remembered yet another story of CM's at their finest.

A few years ago, I visited the Disney-MGM Studios and all of my family wanted to kick off their experience with the Great Movie Ride.

Except for me. That ride scares me. (Which is ironic considering I want to have a career in the movies, especially for Walt Disney Pictures.:) )

Anyway, I got on the line because I didn't want to spend my time sitting on a park bench. And when we got to loading, a very nice CM escorted me to a bench in the building where my family could meet me after the ride. We had a nice conversation, and he reccomended that I came back later if I felt up to it. I was fortunate to see what most people don't see, which was what goes on after your adventure on the Great Movie Ride.

He and the Star Tours CM I mentioned at the beginning of this thread both deserve recognition for going above and beyond the call of duty to make sure everyone gets the ultimate WDW experience.
