NFL Playoffs Pick-em Time!

Yeah Mike I gotta say buddy... it really wasn't close to a catch at the end of the half... the booth would review that themselves and if it looks anything questionable they send it down to the refs... the showed the slow-motion replay after the play, which is what the booth would have seen and you could clearly tell the ball goes into his hands while his at the peak of his jump, and as he comes down the ball comes loose... he needs to clearly come all the way down with it; the ball was out before anything touches...

I'm so happy to see the Saints do as well as they are, and will LOVE IT when they beat the Bears...

it puts me in a very VERY uncomfortable situation to have to have the Pats beat them in the Superbowl though; I wish they both could win, but they can't. The Chargers gave the Pats WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too many chances... you can't give a team that many chances... plus LT ran for like 125 yards... but in the 4th... Marty proved incompetent... puts the ball in Rivers hand and look what happened...

Manning continues his drought... 3 picks and 1 TD against the Pats... Adai will probably rush for 1... Adam will drop probably 2... Pats win 31-20...

Pats beat the saints 27-24 as Gostowski proves he's the next Vinitieri with a GW kick!!!

I agree that this has caused the logjam right behind the leaders, but like you said it is what it is, and we can modify next year.....:D

Only 2 people modified their picks in week 2, so the vast majority of people have the points consistent with their original picks.

You can put mine down to 6? (I'm not even sure how it all works...because the Pats didn't play Baltimore...so do I get no points for picking the Pats to win because the game never happened?)

No, you would have gotten points. I said you get credit for picking winners even if you don't get the opponent right. If you think the Patriots are going to win from the start, you shouldn't be penalized when they DO win, because the bracketing or other results gave them a different opponent.

But no, I'm not bumping anyone's points down. Everyone has stuck with the rules as layed out. I do understand where 6 is coming from. The current rules allow people to make a convenient switch if a team they had going deep loses and a team they had hanging around is still there.

If I do this next year, I'll look at different ways to address that.

6 makes a good point. It'd probably be easier for you to just let people make their original picks and live or die with them. But thanks for running these things, anyway. All the math involved would make my head hurt. :brick: :hammer:

Here are my picks going forward:

Bears over Saints (it's OK Brian; I don't think anybody outside the Chicago area is picking the Bears to beat this year's Cinderella story. But every Disney fan knows that in the original tale, Cinderella ends up being mauled by a bear. :D )
Colts over Patriots (I may be the only person outside Indy making that pick, but Manning is due.)
Bears over Colts in the Super Bowl

There could be some interesting story lines for the Super Bowl. If the Bears and Colts make it, it will be the first time the two Super Bowl teams had African-American coaches. If it's the Saints and Colts, who will Archie Manning root for? If it's the Bears and Patriots, we're going to hear about 1985 all over again. If it's the Saints and Patriots... I don't know... maybe a comparison of disasters: Katrina vs. Belichick's sweatshirt. :)

You're welcome. Are you also going to thank me when I tell you you can't pick the Colts...or the Patriots?

You lost the Colts in Round 1, and you picked a Baltimore/San Diego matchup this week, so you're locked out of the AFC game, I'm afraid.

Pats-Saints would be the everything is "New" game. And if they list NFC on top, the score ticker would read "NONE." :lookaroun

In roughly 60 - 70 years from now:

Peyton Manning, after living a full life, died. When he got to heaven, God was showing him around. They came to a modest little house with a faded Colts flag in the window. "This house is yours for eternity, Peyton," said God. "This is very special; not everyone gets a house up here."
Peyton felt special, indeed, and walked up to his house.
On his way up the porch, he noticed another house just around the corner.
It was a 3-story mansion with a red and blue sidewalk, a 50-foot tall flagpole with an
enormous Patriots logo flag, and in every window, a New England Patriots towel. Peyton looked at God and said, "God, I'm not trying to be ungrateful, but I have a question. I was an all-pro QB, I hold many NFL records, and I
even went to the Hall of Fame."
God said, "So what's your point Peyton?"
"Well, why does Tom Brady get a better house than me?"
God chuckled, and said "Peyton, that's not Tom's house, it's mine."

Oh. That's OK. I think I'm pretty much out of the running in this game. I'm sure you know I only care about getting one pick right, anyway. Da Bears.

I think we can go ahead and call it. Congrats, Ursine Nation. That was like watching a play in three acts: Chicago came out strong in the first act, the Saints came roaring back in the second, and da Bears dominated the third to close it.

I can't believe how close this game still is...for the most part, the leaders have held pat with their original picks, too.

I think I can only win with a Chicago Super Bowl Victory
