The NFL will break tradition of using Roman numerals for the Super Bowl for Super Bowl 50. Here's the logo:

The 49ers have agreed to terms on a 6-year contract extension with Colin Kaepernick that could eclipse $20 million per year.

Worth up to $126 million with $60 million guaranteed.

EDIT- To be exact, he's guaranteed $61 million - the highest ever.

Some have called it lame but I don't know. For me, calling it Super Bowl L when the connotation of the L is often associated with a loss in the league sort of rubs the perception of the game the wrong way.

Surprise, surprise. Richard Sherman will be on the cover of Madden 15.

Well, hopefully, this predestines the Seahawks to not repeat.

Anyway, it's not a good offseason for my Giants after the draft. Will Hill was cut after countless substance abuses and Jayron Hosley was suspended the first four games. (Hill just signed with Arena League Arizona Rattlers, I've been told.) Then again, Coughlin has always been about integrity and character first. The Plaxico Burress incident best comes to mind as an example. He's definitely the anti-Urban Meyer, who may be a great college coach who only cares about winning but disregards what happens off the field with his players.

I don't think the Seahawks will repeat. I think they'll get to the playoffs, maybe even the NFC title game, but it's just too difficult to go back-to-back in today's game.

As for the Giants thing, the Packers are the same way, although they like to give guys second chances. Last season they gave Johnny Jolly a second chance after a couple years in prison for drug abuse. This year they've signed undrafted free agent TE Colt Lyerla and are giving him a chance to compete for a roster spot after being kicked off Oregon's team.

Seattle has an early bye so that may hinder their chances of repeating. Mid-November to the end is pretty tough for Seattle. San Fran twice, Arizona twice (Arizona was the only team to beat the Seahawks at home last season.), at Kansas City (I mean, come on, do I really think the Chiefs fans are not going to be extra motivated to show Seattle they're louder than the 12th man?), at Philly and then St. Louis at home.

The NFC is just so difficult. Not only do they have the 49ers to deal with, but also teams like the Packers, Saints, and Eagles. All three have offenses that can dominate, and I think all three have improving defenses. I think the team with the best chance to take down the 49ers and Seahawks is the Packers. Their offense is complete with the running game that developed last year, and I think the defense will improve this year. McCarthy has made a "big letters" promise on that, just like he did with the running game last season. I'm excited to see what Julius Peppers adds to the team.

Vikings fan here, Next season is going to be a great one! We've been doing great on the drafts last 3 years, it's got to pay off some time soon.
Another NFC Norther! Welcome to the thread!

I think Zimmer is going to be a great coach. The only thing holding the Vikes back right now is their QB and the level of competition in the NFC North. If Bridgewater works out, it's going to be an interesting division for the next few years at least!

Definately the most entertaining division if not the best and competitive there is! I am actually not a hater towards the packers, Lions nor the Bears, (only when we loose to either one). hopefully Turner can get the best out of either Ponder (I still have some hope for him) and Teddy. but man is the off season too long... :(

I don't really hate anyone in the division, either, but I'm never cheering for them unless it helps in the playoff situations. The NFC North seems to have some of the friendliest rivalries in the league.

Legendary Steelers coach Chuck Noll has passed away at the age of 82. In his time with Pittsburgh he won 4 Super Bowls.

Sad to hear this. One of the current writers for packers.com covered the Steelers for the majority of his career, and he had a great admiration for coach Noll. He always has great stories to share of him.
