The first week is when you learn the most about a team. Some things we are not surprised about and others we wonder what the heck!

Miami? WOW.....Did we really see that one coming?

Cleveland? Yea we seen that one coming.

Minnesota? Looks like they are on the upswing for sure.

Dallas? I thought they were going to be bad, but not that bad. SF has problems all over that team but looked as if they really havnt missed a step. Give Harbaugh some credit there.

Baltimore? My home town team. Steve Smith dropped 4 balls the first half a long with the rest of the receiver's catching a case of dropsies hurt more then anything else. This loss really had little to do with Flacco being in effective. Baltimore offensive line is greatly improved. Although the last two plays of the game would lead you to believe differently.

New England? I wished I could have watched that game, anyone who watched it please comment. Poor Brady....waaaaaaa waaaaaa

Denver? Did anybody really think the Colts would win that game? I will give them credit, the score was closer then I thought it would be. Now if the Colts played the Broncos in a playoff....the outcome might be different.

I was flipping through the games on the Sunday ticket. Around 3:00 it became a flipping frenzy because everything was going haywire. It's so cool to wake up today and know we have TWO more games tonight! :D

I have to watch the recaps of most of the games to get my mind set.. was out all day sunday. But my picks got slaughtered.. and my bold prediction for the Colts came close, but not enough. Some nail biters too.. like the Falcons game.

But suprised no one posted about the Ray Rice video yet. TMZ posted the full video of the Ray Rice encounter now and it's devastating.

It's clear hitting her head on the rail is probably what knocked her out.. but what is more disturbing rather than the punch is the way Rice acts afterwards. Virtually no distress, and what seems like no regard at all for her as a person. The whole Ray Rice thing is gonna BLOW UP again. Big time.

I just don't believe that TMZ could get a copy of the video and the NFL could not. It's not a believable thing. Which leads to so many other questions on how the NFL has handled this situation.

Remember... the casino where this happened, just closed for good. That means the people with access to it, now have new freedoms to distribute it. I bet someone sold it to TMZ after the casino closed.

What I don't understand is.. how the police would have gotten it, and yet Rice would have been able to keep it out of the hands of others. That's the stretch part... which means some deal between the casino and Rice's people to keep it from other private parties. I doubt the Casino would keep it to themselves on pure moral grounds :)

The Ravens have released Ray Rice.

Wow. I expected a suspension but not a release.

I'm sure they did it to do the proper thing - but from a PURELY business perspective - does it free up cap room if they release a player as opposed to keeping him on the roster but suspended?

I'm not sure why I forgot about that. Good point.

Wonder if anybody will sign Rice this season. I think he should be out of the league for a year then given a second chance..we shall see

Keeping him even with a more severe punishment would still have been a huge long-term distraction and disastrous PR for the team. So it was good business to cut him loose whatever the financial considerations involved.

Maybe they thought it was the proper thing too, but it was necessary to do it for business reasons.

Some injury news:

- Robert Mathis (IND) out for season with a torn Achilles tendon.
- Derrick Johnson and Mike Devito out for season (KC) also with torn Achilles tendons.
- Shaun Hill unlikely to play week 2 for the Rams, will likely have to start 2rd string QB Austin Davis.

I'm not going to say whether I agree with the NFL for suspending an NFL player for hitting a woman or not. However I will say this. Since the NFL is going to suspend an NFL player for hitting a woman. I say the NFL also needs to suspend an NFL player for hitting a man. This should not be about if the person being hit is a man or a woman or the person hitting the other person is a man or a woman. This should be about a person hitting another person. I don't think anyone should hit anyone except in self-defense.

WRONG!!!! A man the size of a football player punching a woman is as offensive as one person hitting another? I.don't. think.so!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rice is a huge, muscular NFL player who's one of the fittest people you'll ever meet. Hitting a smaller women, and then not even CARING or trying to help makes matters worse. I see what you're saying but disagree
