NextGen Launch?

thank you. someone needed to say it.

there is a stark difference between what we are hardcore disney fans WANT and what the park "desperately needs." yes, any one of us would gladly take new D and E tickets anywhere on property, but the magic kingdom is not the park in most need.

Well said. VERY well said.

Are you kidding me? These numbers may be imperfect and/or out of date, but for a general sense:

Magic Kingdom: 40 rides/attractions
Epcot: 19 rides/attractions
Hollywood Studios: 19 rides/attractions
Animal Kingdom: 19 rides/attractions
Universal Studios: 12 rides/attractions
Islands of Adventure: 14 rides/attractions

You're right. Way more rides needed at Magic Kingdom.

He just got lawyered.

(this off topic comment brought to you by a bitterly cold mets fan)

Wow what a stretch, someone saying the most visited park in the world could use some new attractions. Yea, WAAAAAAY off base. Look, we lost 20K how long ago? I know we are getting mermaid but we could still use another D or E ticket.

Like it or not, rides are only part of the experience at a Disney theme park.
Trust me I know rides are not the only thing. I love the extra stuff, its what makes Disney, Disney. But the original post was about whatever is happening will outshine DL and change everything. If its a next gen meet and greet or something like that, I'm just not that interested. Now a next gen ride and system exclusive to WDW, now you have my attention.

Umm...14 rides/attractions at IOA?
1.Hulk 2.Storm Force 3.Dr Doom 4.Spiderman 5.Dudley Do Right 6. Me Ship the Olive 7.Popeye and Bluto 8.Jurassic Park River Adventure 9.Pteranadon Flyers 10.Camp Jurassic 11.JP Discovery Center 12.Harry Potter Forbidden Journey 13.Flight of Hippogriff 14.Dragon Fire 15.Dragon Ice 16.Sindbad Show 17.Poseidons Fury 18.High in the Sky Suess Train Ride 19.One Fish Two Fish 20.Caroseusssel 21. Cat In the Hat

As for the Disney parks...yeah they all could use some more attractions, especially rides...but more than any of them i want to see stuff added to DAK. But obviously they have to add to the MK. The Magic Kingdom NEEDS those rides and stuff just because they lost all that space when they got rid of 20K sub ride. And it's the busiest park in the world for pete's sake...and it's NOT the biggest MK park in the world.

I really am curious to see all what NextGen stuff is added to the parks. Should be interesting.

At any rate...The HM is likely where the next gen stuff will be launching from the looks of it.

While HM and Pooh queue's may be next-gen I would venture to guess they aren't the "launch" of the technology property wide. Disney isn't spending the "billion" dollar figure we heard a couple years ago just to plus queue lines. This is a massive overhaul to the experience of going to a theme park.

On this note, we all need to keep an open mind about what next-gen actually entails. It definitely isn't just "meet and greets" or enhanced queue's as stated above.

We saw evidence of a survey, posted sometime this summer, that Disney was looking at truly immersive experiences as part of this property wide launch. Things like; when you exit the Haunted Mansion "ghost" footprints follow you around the park. A pirate "gang" recruits you as you enter Adventureland to go on an adventure.

I think we need to look at the new Wild Africa Trek for more insight as to what is in store.

Not that I care.... but you counted each of the dragon lines seperately

Anyways i could always use a bit more snow here in northern VA we only got about 5 inches at the most this year... hopefully this Oklahoma storm comes up here

Each Dragon is a completely separate layout, it's not mirrored like Space Mountain

It irks me when someone calls AK a "half-day" park. I do agree that it could use more rides as my local zoo has many of the same exhibits of wildlife, but I challenge anyone to do the above list in a single day... You would be wiped out.

I think the people who call it half day, are people who go more often. If you have never been there, yea, full day park. If you go every year (like us) half day park. If you did that list in one day, you would be tired. The question is, is it worth doing the whole list. For a lot of the people who go often, the answer is no.

True. Well put.

Park needs more rides regardless. Lots of zoos across the country. Take out the animal exhibit walking trails and the list shortens significantly.

Been there, done that. And all done by 3pm.

Classic! I love AK, but it still needs some work. It is hard to justify more than a half day there once you have been there a few times, besides the fact that it's too hot most of the year to survive it anyway!

Agreed!! I can survive the heatmidity at MK and DHS and even Epcot if you plan it right, but AK? Yuck.
