Newfiefan's long overdue Sept. TR!

Hello again, I'm back at the TR writing! My computer crashed in the fall and my vacation pictures have been held hostage ever since. I have a new laptop and I've been able to retrieve my pictures! Thank goodness!

For any of you out there who has been following the drama that is my life, things have returned to semi-normal around here. My father had a horrible accident last year and I'm happy to report that he is on the mend. He may need one more surgery this summer but he's pretty much back to normal. For those of you that don't know, the accident happened on my new home construction site. It all went down as I was writing my March TR from last year. You can check it out if you're interested but the TR never did get finished. *embarrassed* http://forums.wdwmagic.com/showthread.php?t=564342&highlight=newfiefan's With all that was going on in my life at the time, the TR writing went on the back burner.

We haved now moved into our beautiful new home and Uncle Matt (as you all know him) is now a married man! It's been quite the year for us!

This Sept. trip couldn't have come at a worse or a better time... depending on how you looked at it. We were right in the middle of new home construction and my brother (aka Uncle Matt) threw a surprise wedding at us. The wedding was scheduled to take place the week after we returned home from WDW!!! Uncle Matt had originally planned to come on this trip with us but that all changed with the wedding plans. So, for the first time since 2007 (our first trip as a family) we were once again taking a trip by ourselves (just the 4 of us). I was disappointed Matt wasn't coming with us, as we have so much fun with him on vacation, but I was looking forward to just our family getting away together. And what a trip it was! It was just what the doctor ordered... we left the maddness behind and headed for 12 nights at the most magical place on earth...

Day 1

We took the usual flight from St. John's, NL, switched planes in Toronto and landed in sunny Orlando just after 1pm local time. An uneventful flight and journery for the most part. We did however have a hard time locating our luggage but we tracked it down and we were on our way to DME.

Silly kids waiting on a bus...

This was our first time staying at CBR and we fell in love with the place. We were located in Jamaica and it was quite the convenient "island". The bus stop was next door and we were usually the first ones picked up depending on the route. And Old Port Royale was a short walk across Caribbean Cay!

The kids loved the Nemo theming!

The mandatory room number shot...

We headed straight for Epcot (somewhat of a tradition for us) and looked for some food for our very hungry stomachs.

Always have to stop for the first PhotoPass pic of the trip!

We found some yummy food in here...

And got a bonus ride on Soarin' - it was walk on! (Don't you love Sept.!?!)

It's funny how attracted kids are to spraying water...

We made our way into World Showcase and the kids wanted to ride "Donald's Mexico Boat Ride" (as they like to call it)...

We poked around a little inside and then headed back out into WS. It's interesting how our touring has evolved our the course of our WDW trips. We had no real plan, just wandering, stopping when we wanted to see something or take a pic, etc. That and the fact it was just our family and we didn't feel the need to cater to anyone else... it was nice!

And then we said goodbye to the Magic Kingdom! But we had one last stop to make...

A DVC van was waiting to pick us up just outside the gates! Yep, we did it! We bought into DVC!!! We're happy with our decision and we plan to make it work for us.

We got some more free ice cream and then the van brought us back home. Then it was packing (the worst part of a trip) and picking up some last minute souvenirs at the shop (we were given some gift cards from DVC).

The next morning we had our last breakfast at CBR and took ME back to the airport.

The kids balloons that we purchased on our first day were still filled up. They lasted the whole trip!

And that's all folks! It was an amazing trip - our best one yet! I don't know if it was the length of the trip, the fact that we've been a few times already now, or b/c it was just the four of us... but it's certainly one for the record books! I came home from this trip relaxed and happy. The kids had a great time with daddy and we felt ready to face the real world when we got back home.

A big thanks to all of you that read and commented, I appreciate it!

And speaking of "real world" I will post a couple of pics of Uncle Matt's wedding for those of you who are interested!

Like they say in Meet the Robinsons: It's North Montana. That line in the movie always sounds so un-PC, ya know? :lookaroun

Well, we are north of Montana!

Wow great report! I must say though the highlight for me has been Dr Newbiefans t-shirts, they are amazing!!

Dr. NewfieFan likes his tees. He wears them to work too (he's a real professional :animwink:)! You should see his closet...

Did you get busy on us??? Not that I'd razz you for it after my week of hellaciousness. Just bumpin' the ol' thread up there! :D

Sorry to leave you hangin' sweet! Life got a little crazy there. I have best friends losing a grandfather, getting married, having bridal showers, building houses... you get the picture - real life!

AWESOME trip report. As I mentioned in another report I read earlier today, we're contemplating a stay at CBR, so it's nice to see photos from there. The pool looks amazing!

Nice to hear your experience from T.Rex. The restaurant looks pretty cool, but I have to admit that I'm prejudiced against it because it's by the Rainforest Cafe folks. For some reason, I've never had a good meal there. But the ambiance looks SO COOL that we really want to give T. Rex a try anyway!

Your photos really convey the experience of your trip so well; everyone looks so happy, and you capture a lot of candid moments really well. You probably have some of the best photos here from the perspective of capturing emotion. Kudos on that! (Congrats on the Celebrations Magazine photo!)

I guess I am the only one unfamiliar with "Uncle Matt." Unlike some women here, I guess I'm not too disappointed about him getting married.

Thanks Tom! That means a lot coming from you. Now if only I could take good pictures to capture those moments...!

I wouldn't expect you to be interested in Uncle Matt!?! :lookaroun

What a great TR! Looks like you guys had a ton of fun. Beautiful family too, Thx for sharing.

Well, thank you for reading and the nice comments!

Awwww...I thoroughly enjoyed the final installment(s)! Definitely worth the wait! I totally understand about life getting in the way. I've been sorta out of pocket myself the past week or so with traveling to visit family, getting Chandler his learner's permit (to drive! Eeeek!), and soon to be taking care of my mom's ex that raised me as he has some maaaajor surgery over in Houston. I'm glad you got busy because having the happy surprise of your final installments was just what I needed. So thank you!

You bought into DVC!!! Cool! Which resort??? Are y'all still going in September? I know..I know..a bazillion and one questions! LOL!

Ah, your munchkins are just too adorable for words. Your son getting upset at the thought of a lost daddy, your sweet little princess with her blissful shots with Ariel....so perfect! What sweethearts!

You totally cracked me up with the comment about the male lack of ability to ask directions. So stinkin' true! I bet every married or cohabitating woman will read that and just nod with a smile. So true! Ha!

And, yes, definitely interested in pics from Uncle Travelin' Matt's wedding! LOL!

Great TR

As you may have seen we have planned a trip for late August-early September. Your experience in the heat leads me to think we can handle it as well. Thanks for sharing

Thanks for the nice comments! Your boy has his learner permit!?! Wow, I can't even think about that!!! Life is hectic, it really gets in the way of trip report writing, doesn't it!?! :animwink:

Oh, I have your last email saved b/c I was going to respond after I made my plans... I'm booked for Kidani Village! Sooooo, you have to send me your itinerary so we can make some plans...! :sohappy:
I will try and post a couple pics of the wedding today!

Thanks! Yes, I've been reading your pre-TR (but haven't commented on it yet). You will be just fine! As I mentioned earlier the crowds will have thinned a little by the end of August. You'll be able to get out of the heat and the pool is just that more refreshing! :animwink:

Love the TR!! Looks like you guys had an amazing time!! I'm trying to convince my mother to look into DVC but we have a timeshare with RCI every other year already.. I told her we need something for the years we don't have RCI!!! lol
Looking forward to the next TR! I'll have to look through my pics to see if you're in the background of any since we were there at the same time!

Excellent TR NewfieFan! The only bad thing about it is that it makes me miss Disney even more. Again, most awesome TR!

Thanks so much! I know, I would read other's TRs in the past and miss WDW that much more!

Thanks! It's great that you have a timeshare to use near WDW. We're happy with DVC so far. We've only used it once and it certainly changed our trips for the better.

At the rate I'm going I should have the next TR up by Dec.! :lookaroun Seriously, I have the pictures loaded on my new computer and I'll probably get at it towards the end of June.

Thanks for reading!

My husband was the best man as well. I was nothing, as usual (can you tell I'm bitter!?!). Seriously, I read the scripture at the ceremony... and planned the wedding, thank you very much!
And it was a crazy windy day! Most pictures we're laughing b/c we were being hit in the face with leaves and twigs from surrounding trees. And all our hair is a mess!

Me and my brother...

Yaaaayyy!!!! Uncle Matt's wedding pics! I was thinking maybe you forgot those. LOL! Looks like you did a totally fab job putting together a sweet wedding on such short notice. Everyone looked great. The kids, as usual, are little cherubs. So I'm hoping the newest member of the family will be indoctrinated with all things Disney very soon.....???

Oh! And don't wanna go off harpin' on the brother thing because I totally used to want to snatch a girl bald when it was one of my friends getting all googly over my big brother...but that last shot of Matt made me think "oooohh...Scott Weiland!" and that's just not a good thing at all since, well, watching Scott Weiland in STP's 'Sour Girl' video (or any STP video) totally does it for me. **wink wink** Oh yes, hearts shall be a-breakin' all over in the Newfie's-hot-brother-Matt Fan Club.

And that's all I'm gonna say about that. :zipit:

I'll get that email I owe you out soon. Still got a ton going on topped off with a lovely summer head cold. Hopefully everything will be settling more in the next few days. I'll get to it soon. I didn't forget. Promise!

Thanks, both Matt and Danielle were pleased with the way the wedding turned out. Oh yes, things are in the works for a trip next year! The poor girl is going to be dragged around Disney World by the works of us!

Don't worry about it! I completely understand, life is hectic at the best of times!
