Hmm... Al Lutz, the King of Disneyland Rumors has posted this up tonight on his Miceage website, the 24 hour part I've bolded in red...

So this sounds like it's a 24 hour party on February 29th at both Disneyland and Magic Kingdom in WDW. Plus the hotel discounts and a launch of Memories 2.0 campaign for 2012.

Honestly who besides teenagers and people in their 20's will want to stay at the park for 24hours?? I would need some serious drugs to keep me up for that long!!

Not all that many will spend a full 24-hours in the park. But there will be a lot of people there in the overnight hours 10pm to 6am when the park is normally closed. That's the attractive part of the whole thing.

I gotta give them credit for pushing to have a slot during the NYE countdown.

Well geez, it's on ABC. Who owns ABC?

While I think it is a neat idea - I do think this is wasted marketing. I brought the 24-hour idea to a friend of mine who likes Disney, but is not a Disney loyal - she rolled her eyes. It's like she knew the only people who would do something like that are Disney fanatics. In addition, they are pretty much hanging their hat on an annual campaign and publicity stunt that will be done and over before the first quarter. Something just doesn't make sense about that...

In addition, this is something that DOES NOT reach out to who Disney desperately tries to please - families. What family of 4 is going to be in the MK at 4am? And while I, as a passholder without a family, think it is a neat idea - there is little incentive for me to go in the middle of the week with nothing special going on.

Maybe it is just my wishful thinking, but i think their is more to this than we are expecting. The disney executives saw what happened at at D23, I do not think they are going to make the same mistake twice. It very well could be a marketing campaign of some kind...but my gut tells me something more is up. Maybe we will get firm dates on the openings of carsland and fantasyland expansion in addition to some of what we have already heard.

This is not what I am thinking, but I sure hope you are correct. D23 was such an empty tease, and created a fair amount of derision amongst the online Disney community, that I would HOPE that execs would not risk being laughed at and fussed at again.

I wouldn't be surprised to see them tie the opening of the the first half of Circusland to this as well. Timing seems to be perfect for a Feb. 29th opening and it would be great publicity.

so this might be something like....I do a 6 night package at a resort with 6 day tix.....they give us the 6th day of the park ticket free? isn't that just a savings of like $5 per ticket? now if they're gonna give a day of ticket free and a night at the hotel free then now we're talkin!!

If you go by the countdown clock on Disney's site, it's at 11pm EST on ABC or Univision

Which doesn't make sense because Eyewitness ABC News is on at 11:00.. and I doubt Disney's announcement will be the lead story... More likely sometime during the broadcast from 10-11 or at 11:30......

Do we have any idea what time the announcement will be made?

I don't think so. I'm assuming around midnight when the most viewers are watching. The anticipation is killing me. I just really hope we get definitive opening dates for the Fantasyland expansion.

My guess? It will be announced about 5-10 minutes before midnight. That will boost their viewership for the ball drop, since most people only pay attention for the last 15 minutes of the hour anyways.

But that's pure speculation on my part...

I think it will be announced at 11 pm EST. No matter what the announcement is, I am sure people will complain as some just want to have something to complain about.
