over the summer construction is supposed to start on the Wilderness Lodge to give it a major upgrade/revamp.

Source-well i work(ed, last day was today :/) and all the managers have been talking about it for a while, they even posted the concept art

I have to agree.. I stayed there two, three years back... The pool was fine the way it was...

i saw this post backstage, back in around april.

the design looked to add a giant rustic water tower with a new slide. the pool would be expanded into a greater size.
that was all that i could tell.

i also love the "natural" feel to the pool. the waterfall leading directly into the pool is amazing! i hope this new one(if it goes through) is good though, it looked pretty alright.

Are you sure this wasn't what was added to Fort Wilderness? Because that sounds like the new addition to the Meadows area swimming pool...

I'm going to second this. The pool at the WL was just redone not too long ago, but FW should be getting worked on. People get the Wilderness Lodge & Fort Wilderness confused all the time.

Yes if anyone could confirm when the construction is supposed to begin and how long it will last, that would be greatly appreciated. My wife and I just booked 2 days at WL in mid August and she would be crushed if she couldn't lay by the pool.

And are we sure it's WL and not Ft Wilderness?

I love the Pool at the Lodge, but if they wanted to change it and make it a little more rustic i wont complain none.

We stayed at WL just this past week and I can't see how they could improve/change to pool without making it feel less rustic, especially if they added some sort of tower. Hopefully this is over at Fort Wilderness.

i'm a CP and my program ends tomorrow

But like i said before, this very well could be the new Fort Wilderness pool. they post thing backstage for both the lodge and campground. we're both basically one area, the campground even picks up their checks at the lodge every week. so this very well may be just over at the fort.

if anyone else has more info on this or can back up what i saw backstage that would be be great

Fort Wilderness Lodge?

Fort Wilderness has long lacked a high quality pool, so this will be a long overdue and very welcome upgrade.

As stated, the pool at the Wilderness Lodge is already pretty awesome and doesn't need any major overhaul.

You are describing the new construction of the Fort Wilderness pool. As far as I know there are no plans to do anything with the pool at WL.

The new pool at FW is awesome with plenty of Imagineering touches from what I have seen.

I am sure one day down the line they will feel an upgrade will be necessary at the lodge but not today.

The one thing I wish the pool at WL could have is zero entry. We stayed at AKL last month and it was great for the kids. Other than that, though, I like the pool at WL just the way it is!

The only downer to the WL pool was the amount of ducks swimming in it. Being a duck hunter, I can say without a doubt I could get my bag limit in 5 minutes if i was allowed to setup by the sliding board. Being that I was here in December, its no doubt you have a lot of migratory birds stopping by, but judging by the size of them, they were no doubt resident ducks. And since they were all mallards except for one widgeon, I'd say for sure they are resident ducks not going anywhere.

The amount of duck turds going into the pool is enormous! And once you shoo them away from the pool, they simply go upstream about 10 feet and sit there....pooping away.
