New water-side restaurant 'Spice Road Table' coming to Epcot's Morocco Pavilion?

Any chance they will leave the lovely Moroccan waterfront area alone (irrigation system, water wheel, mud buildings) and build this thing slightly east of the actual pavilion, or is that too much to ask/hope for?
I believe earlier in the forum someone stated they had seen the plans and they specifically called for leaving the water system alone, as for the rest I'm not sure. I am curious to hear more " other “enhancements” to the pavilion" that the bog mentions. I know it is too much to hope for a ride, but I still want to hope for it...

So wouldn't it make more sense to convert the current restaurant and pavilion to be more like Northern Morocco? Than build out another restaurant...

So it takes them less than 8 months to get a restaurant built but a new ride takes forever ... now let us go through logic:

1)Does a new eatery increase people coming through the turnstiles? Nope!
2)Does a new ride increase people coming through the turnstiles? YES!
3)Therefore should a new ride be built before a new eatery? YES!

Does a new eatery have a direct link to revenue? YES! (and unfortuently that seems to be what is most important now).

2)Does a new ride increase people coming through the turnstiles? Probably not just 1 ride.
3)Therefore will they build a new eatery that can get more income from guests already in the park? Yup!

I think a lot of adults enjoy Epcot because of its restaurants, shopping and laid back feel. Part of what makes Disney World great is that not every park has the same atmosphere and it is like a whole different experience each trip based on the parks you visit. I think it is sad that people complain about this stuff over and over and yet still spend their money yearly on Disney Vacations. I for one don't have an interest in Morrocan food, but who knows it may be the best little gem in all of WDW.

Glad you are an optimist! I am also excited for this! They are calling it an "eatery" so I don't think it will be full fledged restaurant scale, and I think it will be nice. The only thing I complain about is the booths they have during the festivals. They clutter the WS too much. This will be nice, I think.

I hate the idea of cluttering up the waterfront with more restaurants.

If they are doing away with the little market and the place where Mo-Rockin' (sp) plays, I would not be as adverse to the dismay since that is already a smaller sight line to Illuminations and the water.

And if as stated above, there is another restaurant coming to the waterfront, I do hope it would be over near Canada as there is some room where it could fit easily without making too much of an impact. I could even see where the restaurant could have a small terrace where people could watch Illuminations... Germany - not so much...it just becomes clutter, clutter, clutter.

^ It's the fact people spend their hard earned money and expect to see more thats part of the problem I think. World Showcase has 20+ places to pay a pretty extra penny for food, not including kiosks, but only 7 attractions for nearly $100 admission.

Exactly...

If I don't feel something is worth the admission or the price of a meal, I dont go. At home or on vacation. Simple as that.

It doesn't suprise me that they're going with a Spice restaurant here since spices are used extensively in Moroccan cuisine. Since there are many meat dishes at Merrakesh, I wouldn't mind seeing some vegetable soup/stew menu items and maybe even some seafood dishes as well here being that it will be a waterside restaurant and all. Just trying to generate ideas as to what food offerings they can come up with. Found this from allrecipes talking about the top 20 Moroccan recipes:
http://allrecipes.com/Recipes/World-Cuisine/African/North-African/Moroccan/Top.aspx

Since this is a spice restaurant, I'm guessing will see Saffron, Tiliouine and mint used heavily as spices in the dishes since they are home grown spices in Morocco. Then you got other spices like Karfa, Kaumon, Kharkoum, Skinjbir, libzar, tahmira, anise seed, seasame seed, qesbour, and maadnous the chefs can play with. I'm suprised though they didn't show any concept art just to give us an idea of what the setup will be like visually.

Edit: Here's a daytime pic from TP: https://twitter.com/TouringPlans/status/318787605397401600/photo/1

It also looks like there will be full glass windows overlooking the WS Lagoon as well.

Edit:Edit: Well I guess this isn't the case as they're going to offer mediterranean cuisine. Sigh, wanted Moroccan dishes.

Are you implying it's impossible to have rides that are "grown up"?

Because I'd have to disagree with you there.
WDW has several "grown up" attractions such as the Carrousel of Progress, Great Movie Ride, Kilimanjaro Safaris, Soarin', and Spaceship Earth. I'm saying the World Showcase is the most "grown up" area at the theme parks. The WS was designed to be what it is and, all things considered, might very well be the one area in the four parks that remains closest to its original opening day vision.

Going one step further, I'm saying let's fix the attractions at MK and DHS and DAK and Future World before we go messing around with the World Showcase's vision.

WS still could use a few more countries though.:)

Before? We already jumped the Shark with that one ... princesses infesting pavilions ... destroying Norway ... and a cartoon platypus for the ADD kids.. oh almost forgot adding a stupid duck.

Also remember a lot more rides were planned for WS ... Rhine river cruise, rides for Japan, a Parisian crazy tax cab ride for France, a Christmas Carol ride for UK par example

well that one was actually going to be a show like the American Adventure with animatronics and such, but hey Id take either one and all of the above, Italy too had a ride planned. Sadly anything added from here on out is going to be booze and food it looks like.

I understand where you are coming from but I still prefer the World Showcase being the "grown up" part of WDW: dining, drinks, shopping, and (mostly) movies.

I just wish they'd add a few more countries.

I get that as well. I wasn't that clear. I meant more so for Future World side of EPCOT Center. Although I would not be against a new ride for World Showcase. Nothing along the lines of a thrill ride. To me it would be nice if all the countries had a boat ride like Norway and Mexico. Even if they added new countries with the rides.

Are you quite sure I know there was also a Music Hall which was planned that was going to be based on how UK has had an impact on music - I thought that was the AA show, and Carol was going to be a dark ride ...
