New water-side restaurant 'Spice Road Table' coming to Epcot's Morocco Pavilion?

Yes you are right. But what I am wondering is who did TDO get to sponsor this new resturant, they never pay for anything new at Epcot anymore, they make someone else pay dont they? just kidding.

Your joke is probably close to reality - it's pretty likely that any new WS restaurant will be run by an "operating partner" rather than Disney itself.

Which is already the case for Morocco I do believe. See -> http://restaurantmarrakesh.com/mar/about_us.asp Pretty much appears that it is run by a partner rather than Disney. Maybe they feel they would get more business out in public view instead of being tucked in the back of the pavillion. Which is a shame as wandering back to the restaurant is a pretty cool feeling, kinda like the back alleys and side streets one would expect to find in Morocco.

Just wait.. soon every pavilion is going to have a waterside restaurant and premium Illuminations viewing and then there won't be any spots to watch along the lagoon without being blocked by the restaurants... Epcot does NOT need another restaurant. The restaurants they have already don't all book up as it is. Epcot needs a new attraction and some love for Imagination and SSE!

Turning WS into one giant food court. Disney anymore is all about dvc, real estate, alcohol/food sales. While the attractions are let go. (cough, maelstrom falling more apart every day, they don't even run the waterfall outside anymore).
I have to agree. While I do love world showcase, it is really just an upscale shopping mall. Epcot is a "theme park" isn't it? Shouldn't WS have more then two rides and four shows? Five countries have neither.

Maybe they'll give us another reason to wonder back there. It certainly is cool in that area. I take a stroll through every time I'm at Epcot even if I'm not eating at the restaurant. Once had a meet-n-greet with Aladdin back there which I thought was pretty cool too.

Putting on my A.I. hat for the moment, I think this has great potential. Someone suggested they might add an attraction inside the pavilion's current restaurant. That is a great idea if this new eatery were complex enough. This is a PERFECT place for a similar application of the BatB business model. With enhanced CS in the daytime and TS (with Illuminations packages) in the evenings.

As for the attraction possibilities.... Perhaps some carpets could be made to fly over from the MK and become a nice 'indoor' attraction. This would increase foot traffic geometrically within the pavillion. I think this scenario would solve about 5 major problems with one elegant solution.

How about the Sinbad voyages ride from TDS. Guess its really the wrong area geographically, but that will be the day anyway when we get something as neat as that. Just like in the back of Japan..... Last I heard Marrakesh was scheduled for its own refurb but not sure what came of it, that was awhile ago.

Are you truly suggesting that the Aladdin Spinner from MK be transplanted to World Showcase? No thanks.

For the record would this restaurant pad disrupt MoRockin's stage area? It would be nice if they could keep the entertainment while adding to the area.

I am suggesting it would make a great indoor attraction with some sort of dome with SFX and music etc. For those not interested in family attractions in WS it would be completely hidden.

Winner, winner, camel dinner.

Makes you wonder if there will be any "general" viewing spots left over once they set additional areas aside for Fastpass Plus viewing.

Why not a new attraction instead of another restaurant or store? You know, exactly what EPCOT needs more of.
Because World Showcase is a well themed food court? Because Disney doesn't distinguish between Restaurants, Stores and Attractions, the differentiate between Profit Center and Sunk Costs.

I like the idea of moving the spinner for sure.

According to the Disney Food Blog, the name of the new restaurant will be "Tapaz". Most of the seating will be outdoors (120 outdoor seats vs. 60 indoor seats), and the menu will feature tapas, small plates, and unique olive oils and ingredients from various Mediterranean countries.

I love tapas, so I can't wait to try this restaurant. :)
