Maybe this DLRR Spiel Change discussion can go back into the thread that @mickEblu originally created for it -

Gotcha…. I had to look it up and yes it did change. When the railroad opened it was called Frontierland station - so it may have been a historic nod? Idk.

That’s what I thought at first. Then maybe they forgot to switch it back? But the fact that it’s been so long and nobody noticed has me thinking it might have been a mistake.

The train passes through IASW. It’s relevant. It’s staying right here.

Yes, but unless the new verse played in IASW are now also part of the changed DLRR spiel that you're talking about I think its beyond the topic at hand. ;)

Also I was trying to revive your thread so it can get more discussion that you've been missing.

At Disneyland - the Main Street station announces the stops the train will be making. In recordings online from 10 years ago, they call for “New Orleans Square” and now they call for “Frontierland”

It is an odd change.
Okay I’ve calmed down now it felt like people just started talking about random things at random points for a bit there

It is. I have a recording at the Toontown station with the old spiel from 2019.

Right I understand that all the vocals and instruments are on different tracks. I spent a lot of my 20s in studios recording and have some experience being in the studios and providing feedback when the engineers were mixing or mastering. With that said sounds like you re a bit more knowledgeable in this area and how it applies to the attraction. I was only speaking to the quality of the vocal tracks and if they could match the sound. I agree that you don’t have to lose any of the original recordings but Disney seems to do a lot of unnecessary things these days. One that will always bug me is when they reopened after the pandemic they changed all the train station spiels. Not only did the replace “NOS” with “Frontierland” but it lost all of that beautiful reverb that gave it an almost ethereal quality. Nobody ever talks about it. I mean NOBODY. And every time I bring it up it’s crickets. How did the entire Disneyland fandom not notice this change? I even brought it up to the train station CMs and they looked at me like I was crazy.

I also lament losing the old Yetis howl. They mixed it into his new audio but you can barely hear it.
At the Magic Kingdom, they still have not restored the spiel at Main Street Station. Very sad

For what its worth, I was told the change was made because NOS is considered internally to be a sub-land to Frontierland, so it was thought that it would be better to refer to the main land. I agree that it's a very odd decision, especially with two of Disneyland's headliners being in NOS, but it was very much intentional.

It's my understanding that it's a new recording, as Toontown didn't exist the last time the loop referred to a "Frontierland Station," and both lands are referenced now.

The Holiday overlay started in 1997 and I assume they recorded the Christmas additions to the song at that time and it all sounds pretty seamless.

I'm not worried that adding in a new verse will sound bad.
Holiday has a completely different soundtrack/recording. An inferior one to the original Hammack score I might add, but it has its own merit and is only around for a few months.

Oh that’s right. I mentioned this in the thread I created for this subject (or somewhere else on this site) and completely forgot about that part. There was never a time where Frontierland and Toontown were on the same spiel pre pandemic to my knowledge. But theoretically it could have been the way it was in the early to mid 90s after Toontown opened and I probably wouldn’t remember. If this was intentional this is even more strange considering that station is right in thick of NOS between POTC and HM. But I guess it shouldn’t be too surprising as Disney made quite a few weird decisions during and after the pandemic. And ever since really. Anyway I’m actually more bothered by the new mix than I am on the station name change as non sensical as it is.

Honestly it’s such a strange decision that I have a hard time believing it’s intentional. Especially by the same people that went out of their way to name a land Performance Corridor at DCA. So at DCA they get super descriptive/ precise and at Disneyland the purposely change a recording to refer to a station that doesn’t exist and still says “New Orleans Square” on the marquee? Something doesn’t add up. Or then again considering everything we know about Disney the last few years maybe it makes all the sense in the world.

Why not actually listen to the song when it's done to cast judgment?
That's not how things work around here (or any Disney fan forum for that matter).

I'm a little nervous about this too, to be honest. I think the intent behind it is sweet, but I will be wondering about the execution until we have more information about how it will all be handled and how it will fit together within the existing attraction. The most logical possibility is either an entire rescore (probably not happening due to logistics required and Disney's, well, cheapness) or replacing the finale room audio, which I understand and think makes a degree of sense. However, I really appreciate the finale audio as currently scored, with the adult audio added in to really sell the idea of a culmination and an appropriate ending, that perhaps we could reach the point where the idea of world peace is something beyond just wishful thinking of children and something embraced by all. So, understandably I hope, I'm nervous that something that to me feels so perfect about the original show is at risk of being tampered with for the worse.

My preferred solution would be that some of the MANY English reprises of the song used throughout the attraction (notably more than any other version out there, including the WDW version) are swapped out with new recordings featuring the third verse, but I doubt that's what we'll end up with. I imagine anything less than a complete refresh of a given area's audio will sound jarring given the gap that will exist between the 60s recordings and those made today.
