New track for SM?

Enclosing the queue? Am I the only one who thinks that's a real bummer?

Yes

If they are enclosing the queue for sure I am extremly thrilled. I just hope the new room will be well themed and tie into the greater tomorrowland.

I also wonder will the TTA now travel around the queue area or will the TTA view the actual attraction?

My sources have all led me to believe that the refurb will be at least 10 months.
Yes...there will be new track. Not necessarily all new track (I don't think) but a substantial amount.
There is a placeholder date of Nov. 21 for a reopening I have been hearing about. I don't buy it.
Lee, is the lift hill getting the same love that BTMR go ton its refurb? A silent lift hill sure would be nice (IE: E:E... i havent ridden BTMR since the refurb so E:E is the only true example i have heard live)

You might be....

That is great news about the queue!! Though you won't be able to see the cars before riding anymore, the darker ride is just a superior trade-off IMO.

According to Martin, the light bleed problem isn't as much due to the load area as it is the light from the lift scene... Which makes good sense.

But the article says they're planning on a new ceiling for the dome... Maybe in addition to the asbestos removal, they're figuring in the light bleed from the lift somehow.

Very happy to hear about an enclosed queue as it should allow for a more immersive experience.

First time I've heard of a new dome ceiling. Should be awesome and really could make TTA in SM a whole new experience combined with the ceiling over the queue.

All in all it sounds great!:D

If I were planning it, I would design the roof over the queue area to be higher than the TTA track so that as the TTA cruises past the queue it's "inside" the space station (and perhaps a more visible focal point for those people in the queue who won't be able to see the rockets on the track anymore). Then it exits out through an archway into the darkness of "space", where they can see the glow-in-the-dark rockets zooming around like you do now.

So is your boycott of the parks ending late 09 / early 10?

I'm excited about the refurf , maybe I'm being gullible but aside from new tracks , I've heard from a friend they might consider new carts , as well as new graphics (that'd be awesome because it'd be the oreo cookie in space). Anyone know?

Brian on Fox and Friends this morning reported that Disney is shutting down Space Mountain so that Disney can replace the track. Please take with a grain of salt as I can't find any other reference to it anywhere else. But here is hoping.

Crap! (sorry)

The track won't be replaced (lay out wise), neither will it be altered...

WDI has a reputation for missing deadlines and exceeding cost estimates.
And they won't be playing another song this time... :D

What he said.

I`ll wait for the covered load areas until I see it - this has changed 6 times in the past 6 months.
