News New Theater to be built at the Magic Kingdom - now cancelled?

Could be a tough fit thematically. I'd personally love the idea, as I consider Moana to be Disney's strongest effort since The Lion King. But little girls love Moana and little girls don't love roller coasters (or, more accurately, aren't tall enough to ride them). A proper Te Ka coaster would need to have a height limit of at least 40 inches.
40 inches is nothing, they shouldn’t be building rides only for little girls, and many other people enjoyed Moana.

Understood. I hope they do it. But I can see them hesitating at the idea of building an attraction where the core demo of the IP and the core demo of the attraction type are different. It would be like Star Wars: The Musical Romance. It wouldn't work, because most of the people who love Star Wars aren't the same as the people who love musical romances.

Seemingly they'd have to make a pretty long walkway to get to the ride, since there isn't anywhere actually in Adventureland currently for it to fit. This way they could also add meet and greet for Moana along the way, and everyone wins.

I have to imagine that a permanent Moana meet and greet is already underway. She's at least as popular as Merida and arguably much more popular than Tiana, but she hasn't been meet-able since she left Hollywood Studios a year ago.

Throwing a monkey-wrench into the discussion.
From what I have heard that this theater was cancelled due to what was below the ground. Old pipes that needed to be upgraded and would directly affect Tony’s and Town hall for several months. It is dead for sure but I have heard about a Hawaiian volcano and a certain girl rising somewhere in the park in its place (rumor but from a reliable source).

Throwing a monkey-wrench into the discussion. I just love it when someone posts things like this - as if anything short of a massive sinkhole would stop Disney from building / re-building something. I emailed a WDI CM that sometimes posts to USENET and her reply was that the theatre has not been cancelled, but instead was postponed while they look at additional upgrades to the backstage area. She cited an unrealized project called Edison Square as an example of how they are now looking into developing the whole area instead of just adding the theatre. I don't know anything about budgets or timelines and as always, please consider this my opinion and not fact or rumor.

I don't post as much as here but that is the complete opposite of modern day Disney, if a project uncovers more complexities that they weren't expecting and needs X, Y, and Z. Disney would rather silently end a project and invest in easier alternatives or not invest at all.

Edited: Rewrote to make it easier to understand.

This is simple. They are not putting a theater where people can watch a show for free. They can get away with it at animal kingdom because that park just barely is 3 quarters of a day thanks to 3 hour waits in pandora. Disney springs is likely on the table. Ironically it would appeal to me because those circus shows are terrible.
