New Restaurant coming soon to Downtown Disney Area

Personally I don't think Red Robin is any good. Too greasy in my Opinion. Theming is not terrible but I think they would need to bring it up a notch. But I also think they should have restaurants that are not nationally known, or larger chained restaurants.

Yeah Red Robin is definitely hit or miss. When it's good it's great. When it's bad it's terrible.

I know lots of folks are against national chains but I find the food is generally better and more consistent than Disney specific restaurants.

That is just depressing to hear if Burger21 is coming to Downtown Disney. It's another step towards Any Mall, USA.
Unlike Rainforest Cafe, Planet Hollywood, Harley-Davidson, etc, I'd never heard of Burger21 before this. And I think a restaurant offering a variety of decent burgers could certainly fit in at WDW (seriously - I rarely spend time at DTD, but this sounds like a concept that I'd like). :)

Are there other Rainforest Cafe and Planet Hollywood locations in Orlando? The concept itself is not the problem. The problem is this possibly being part of just an Orlando area expansion.

Your point was that it's another step toward being Any Mall, USA. But Burger21 isn't something you can get at any mall, USA (it seems to be a central-Florida thing, meaning it'll be a unique find for the non-locals like me)

DTD already has plenty of generic establishments that can be found across the country. This isn't one of them, and that's the part of your post I refuted.

There is nothing wrong with a chain when it is done right. Consistency is something that makes these work places well without it getting over corporate. This does appear to be a bit more unique but still a good idea for that location. I travel for work a few times a year and usually im dining alone. Places like chipotle, are great for me because I know what Im going to get whether I'm in Milwaukee, Ft, Myers or Cincinnati.

Yes
New burger joint at DTD = good. They only have 2 locations according to their website but are positioning for rapid growth. WDW will put them on the map I think.

However, if this is going into an existing club, that sucks. I think more likely they build something on the old RRBC location. There are no other vacant spots open right now aside from the clubs. hhmmmmm

A move that Burger21 sees as a first step in their plan to rapidly expand through franchises. That they plan on several Orlando area locations indicates that they are going for big chain, not a boutique chain in a few markets at a few select locations.

Wasn't there a rumor about a light house in Pleasure island being constructed which would be a hamburger bar??? Sounds like they kept the hamburger bar idea just scrapped the light house...

If the product is higher quality and more unique than a typical burger joint, I really don't care if they operate other locations across Orlando (or even throughout the nation eventually). At least in this case, Disney will be showcasing the brand before it actually becomes ubiquitous and generic. :)

I would kill for a pollo campero here! Bring on ubiquitous.

Overall, I think investment in DTD is a good thing. I'd rather see something ground breaking and unique, but there are worse things than burger joints. I'm a 5 guys kind of gal, but I'd maybe give this place a shot.

I think a specialized burger place has been a sure fire bet for DTD at some point. Something along the lines of Red Robin, 5 Guys, or what you suggest with Burger 21. Will be interesting to see how it pans out.

Red Robin and 5 Guys are comparible to each other, but Burger 21 is quite a bit more gourmet. I know it sounds counter intuitive; gourmet hamburgers, but believe me it is special.

We have a similar concept locally called Burger Up... Super pricey, but fantastic. NOT your typical burger joint. Really redefines the genre.
