New pyro product test for Reflections of Earth

I saw Illuminations for the first time Saturday night. In this newbie's opinion, it blows Fantasmic out of the water. I had such high hopes going to see Fantasmic the first time, but was disappointed that much of it was just animation projected onto the water. The boat finale was cool, though. Maybe I just need to go see it again?

Anyway, we watched from the reserved area in showcase plaza and when I got to the car noticed we had brown spots all over our arms. Guessing it was just from some fireworks debris. Regardless, that vantage point was awesome.
The same thing happened to us. We were in reserved viewing area Sat night. There seemed to be lots of fireworks debris. We noticed weird spots on our arms the next day

Not sure about a lot of that new product.

Chaos: new ground charges are alright (I prefer the current ones) and the waterfall like shells in the second half are OK I guess, but the scattering bees are vastly inferior to the current ones.

Adventure: couldn't see any noticeable changes.

Home: don't like the new waterfall pyro (it doesn't "waterfall" enough).

Celebration: Miss the screamers/whistles. The test pyro feels out of place and obnoxious. And the final blue burst is all noise and no color.

Meaning/Finale: looked like the same pyro that has been in use for months.

Overall, no. I prefer the current product over what was tested. If there is any change that needs to be made, its to bring back some variation in the colors to Adventure and the finale.

COMPLETELY agree with all of this.

The screaming sperm is one of my favorite things about the show. Listening to the soundtrack in my car, I have to imagine the screamers because they are so much a part of the show for me.

i like the current version more than the new pyro, i feel some of the new pyro could work well in making the current version better but not all of them. but first, how about a fountain fixer?

Is it possible that this is another case of a supply issue? I know in the past they've either done away with certain effects or replaced them with different ones if there are supply issues. The first ground blasts in Chaos are clearly weaker than their predecessors. I can't see why they would do away with the screamers, they're such an exciting element to the show. In all honesty I found a good deal of the new effects just plain sloppy and distracting from the current effects that have worked well previously.

This could be very much the case, I couldn't find any mention of Firework shortages in the news or other resources but it could be the case that an Element used in the screamers may have jumped price or come into high demand recently. It's hard to say.

I saw the show last night...and I think it may have been the best show I've seen of illuminations. Several screamers in the ending prior to we are one. Christmas tag was nice too.

I will agree, my viewing last week was one of the most memorable.

Am I wrong?? I was on the understanding that due to the amount of fireworks Disney use world wide they aqurierd their supplier and manufacture their own pyros

So if it's not a supply issue, the question now seems to beg, why are they testing product that is weaker and not nearly as effective as what was being used??

Perhaps a company approached Disney stating that they had a product that was cheaper and more effective then what you currently use. I know if I was in charge of Disney I would say why not give it a chance. If its cheaper and more effective then it frees up budget for maintenance or something else. The best way though to true test it is to place it into the field and see how it does and how guest respond to it.

That is my 2 cents of what is going on, I could be wrong though.

You know this is WDW you are talking about? Infamous for cutting something to save money, and then having that savings disappear into the black hole that is an executives bonus check, right?

No more logo-ed napkins, and yet food prices keep increasing.
Reduced nighttime monorail hours, (supposedly for maintenance) but yet they are in terrible shape, and will be closing in the new year for yet additional maintenance.
Etc, etc, etc.

Hence why I said "If I" not "if Disney".. Btw I took a look at the Monorails in my trip and a lot of the panel damage almost look like warp damage.
