Adding another recent first-hand account re: sight lines from within the resort. Just got back on Sunday from our first ever stay at the Polynesian. The one and only time that I noticed it from inside the resort was from the hot tub at the main pool. From that location it was visible but to me, it didn't blend terribly, nor did it stick out like a sore thumb.

It's entirely possible it was in my view at other times but if so, it was not obvious enough for me to stop and take note of it.

All told, I think if you're vehemently against this thing, you'll probably notice it more because you're thinking/worrying about it more. If you're just going about your regular vacation, as I was, you probably won't notice it all that much. Again, strictly talking while walking around the resort itself. Not from other locations around the lagoon, on the monorail, etc.

We visited the fourth week of September. On Monday, September 30th, it seemed that work on the mural had begun as lines were visible on the eastern side of the tower. Without the mural, the colors and styling reminded us of Scottsdale condominium communities and resorts. A-frame roofs should have been incorporated into the design to complement the surrounding longhouses.
