EPCOT New Park Entrance coming to Epcot

Photo update as of Thursday, January 9, 2020. On the east side of Epcot's entrance, construction continues on the entrance plaza leading to the security bag check area. In the center of the photo, you will see vertical rebar for the new security structure.

I am so glad this is happening, I was very afraid this would be budget cut and was just pretty on the concept art

If it did get budget cut, would there just be no water? Because they were just testing to see how the water flowed down the new surface.

I hope not.
I was wishing for them to restore the smooth cascade of water that was there to start with. These pictures, however, seem to show a pattern. I wonder if there's a maintenance issue with having a smooth surface verses one that breaks up the water. (Such as, would it require someone to stand on the fountain and clean it regularly, in which case the smooth surface would be a danger to that person.)

Well, for starters they put it in Future World which was the half of the park not dedicated to the nations of the world (yes, I get that it was just a name, but it is weird isn't it?)

I think you are thinking about the other fountain. The Fountain of Nations was situated behind SSE. The one we are looking at here is in front of SSE and is at least a close replica of the fountain that was there when EPCOT first opened. That wasn't a dancing fountain, but it was a very inspirational and nice fountain. We are getting it back after a long, long absence.

It was odd. Maybe the photo op was better in 1982 than dumping vases into the lagoon.

Finally removing cement from the West side of the plaza. Still seems opening of food and garden or very shortly after is their goal. 20 years in the making. Give or take a few months.
