Wait... those building are part of the park?!!

Also, in my younger years, I never knew there was anything more to the national pavilions other than the movies and Gran Fiesta. My family just marched around the lake. I thought it was all facades.
Similar to my family, which knew there was stuff back there but never bothered to look until I made them.

Found these on some website I’ve never heard of:

There are only two reasons that I ever go to the forbidden site. I go either to laugh at the ridiculousness that is posted sometimes, but I also check in occasionally for photo updates. I love me some photo updates. Anyways, 2 pictures from the site that shall not be named:

Interesting. They did end up ripping up the bases separate from the rest of the concrete. I wonder if weight, material, etc requires different machinery than just the regular pavement.

The project is still going quite a bit faster than I expected it to. They’re already ripping up concrete in front of where the monoliths were.
Ah man, don't jinx it! Now they'll sit on the walls waiting for the ladder to show up, and you know that guy, he takes his sweeet time.

They still need to rip up the rest of the concrete, run irrigation for the new planters, install the actual planters, (probably) remove the left over bits of the old lighting system from the fountain, and resurface it. Not that much but it's easy to see this stretch on for another couple months.

Definitely. I just noticed that the actual monolith removal is happening a fair bit faster than it did the other side.

Looks like the Leave a Legacy plaque has been removed from it's base in front of the main planter, but the base is still standing. I honestly hope that thing goes into the Archives along with the rest of the tiles.

Must've been another California based design firm 🤣 See SWGE in the rain.

lol true!

They just don't design or care about the Florida weather (look at Toy Story Land! Or the DHS tram stop). Guess they still have the idea we'll all cram into the stores/restaurants or under the lone overhang of a shop ... man, these buildings could still be re-purposed ... sigh

I'd love MORE covered walkways, not less ...
