Yep, the design for Slinky Dog changed countless times before construction. While I think many on here would prefer the trenches, I'm not convinced the change there was budgetary. I don't doubt that the other cuts in the land likely were budgetary.
I think the trenches would have been neat and hidden more track supports. But I also think it would have altered the aesthetic of the ride giving it a less toy like appearance and a lot of brown.

There was even a point in the design phase where blueprints existed that had aliens in the current location of the Roy Disney production center.

That’s not a case of the art being exaggerated or taking artistic liberties. In that case the actual plans for the land changed. At one time there were blueprints and site plans for the land that had things being constructed as seen in that artwork.

I wouldn't be surprised if someone looked at that original plan and asked, "And where, exactly, will we put a thousand strollers?"

And the plans changed.

I'd love it if they put Walt's frozen head in a robot and display it in Futureworld. Talk about perfect theming. The man, the myth, the legend in the place he came up with.

I don't think Walt would like what they've done with his idea for Epcot though. There might be some F bombs dropped and a few executive causalities, but man it would be awesome.

You don't need a robot. Just get Ron and just have him sit around, reacting to random happenings:

Frozen head? You forget that Disney now owns the Fox content which includes Futurama. Thus, we can get a living head floating in a jar on top of a robot, much like President Nixon's head when he re-ran for President in 3004. Now that'd be interesting, angry Walt on a robot roaming EPCOT and ruling things with an iron fist! Not as fun as the Muppet Mobile Labs, but still cool!

It's genuinely a charming movie. The only "shot in WDW" movie I've ever bothered with. Ron is a shockingly great Walt.

I watched the whole thing. Don’t know any of the actors but have to agree it’s a good movie. The whole Walt head thing could have gone very cheesy. It didn’t. The actor played Walt as someone who cares.

The actor that played Walt was Ron Schneider aka Dreamfinder (one of them at least). You can find a video online of him singing One Little Spark back in 2011 at Destination D and the Epcot Center opening video with Danny Kaye. There's others but those are the first I can think of.

Does anybody know what is up with the tarps in Future World? They're gone today. Pic from Twitter.
