Lots of active (and somewhat loud :p) construction going on during the day yesterday.

Photo update as of Thursday, Aug 6. Now that a lot of concrete has been poured along the shoreline, based on the "narrow" space between tiers, I am 99% sure there will be tiered seating, vice standing, in the Rivers of Light viewing area. The faux rock island in the river has more "themed paint" than last week.

The show building under construction across from the Nemo theatre now has these four support beams, perhaps for a roof.

My apologies if this has been answered constantly, but does anyone know if there are any particular designs on the big open plot of dirt and sand between Planet Watch and the back of Asia?
Is this an expansion pad or is it vital for behind the scenes park infrastructure?
Currently, it seems to be used as a holding yard for shipping containers and large diameter drainage pipe sections, but mostly it's just dirt.
Anybody know?

It has been cleared since construction began on the park.

This is true. If you go back through historical imagery on Google Earth you can actually see that it's usually even more empty than it was when the latest aerials were shot.

I'm just curious if anyone knows whether it's a viable pad or not.

I can't think of a reason why it can't be.

Eventually it will be.

It was cleared as park construction began; it was the site of WDWs Tree Farm.
