This filled-in area has a metal edge welded to the top of the coffer dam.

No wonder this is taking so long, someone needs to go wake that worker up. ;)

Technically these are not coffer dams. A coffer dam in a temporary dam that allows them to drain an area of a body of water so they can build something there. In this case what we are seeing is sheet pile used to create a new permanent shoreline.

Not to be a smart ****, but if you look at the EE decent opening, you get a primo shot of the show, who needs a fixed Yeti?
I bet the view from the lift hill of EE of the show will be amazing as well. That MIGHT be the only scenario that would not completely freak me out if the train got stuck on the lift.

Does it look like they are putting in actual seating areas or is it just going to be tiered levels for people to stand.
it looks like seats/benches to me, however im pretty sure there will be standing areas to watch the show too, but i think they should of gone with just standing room to fit as much people into the viewing area's as possible.

So what's the purpose of the show building near Everest?
Is it a hangar for the show barges?

It is the control booth for the show. The barges will dock in the marina, which was pre-existing behind Theatre in the Wild (you can see it from google Maps)

New video of river of lights construction posted 19 hours ago.

This is probably the best overview I've seen! Thanks for posting!

Those two main viewing areas facing the Tree of Life are really interesting.... but lack a common focal point? Unless everyone stands on an angle? WOC kinda does that.......

Actually World of Color is different, it only has four wide tiers, but this one is going to have a lot more narrow ones which leads to believe it will be bench seating like Fantasmic.
I hope for a mix of both. Or that they at least theme the benches. Fantasmic's benches would be really ugly.

Exactly. I would have thought it would have viewing areas like WoC, but that doesn't appear to be what's under construction.
