It is much better than "not that bad"

I think one of the things that people will always struggle with is the lack of pyro, which, for obvious reasons, will never be able to really happen at this park. Also, compare the usable space on the water to the absolute size of the lake for RoE and it is smaller, so this show will be more intimate from the start. I always felt that was what Rohde was going for with this show. Everything doesn't have to be a huge, over-the-top production. The one thing I always liked about WDW is the variety in entertainment that exists within the entire resort. This show could just play with a different set of expectations than the likes of Wishes, RoE and Fantasmic. A smaller, more intimate venue with stunning visuals sounds like it would deliver just fine.

Also, people should never just take one person's opinion as cold, hard fact on something like this. Believe it or not, there are actually people out there that don't care for Illuminations all that much. Just because someone said the show is "not that bad" is only that one person's opinion. All you have to do is read @wdwmagic 's opinion on the show. Steve loved it by all accounts. And on the flip side of this discussion, that automatically doesn't mean that everyone should expect to love it either.

Those who pay are not happy.

(Pay from the west coast)

This is an interesting thing to 'watch' play out. If they are unhappy artistically after finally getting the technical issues to (mostly) work and they let the show premiere, it likely won't see funding for a revamp until either survey scores demand it or something else in the park triggers funding for the show (anniversary, new attraction, etc). And if it premieres for some group of Disney Fans this will be the most iconic thing ever, and any changes will be met with derision. (all attractions are the 'most iconic thing ever' to some disney fan)

But if they were to throw money at it now and not open it until they are happy artistically, that could push the show premiere until well past the Pandora launch, which would be pretty difficult to justify.

I don't see how Disney management 'wins' from this point. If they knew they had artistic problems from before the technical delay, why didn't they throw different resources (imagineers, money, resources) at this problem before now?

Animal Kingdom needs more characters. It would be cool to see characters on the water screens but keep the lotus flowers and lanterns. People just aren't that jazzed by pictures of real animals. Look at those Disney Nature Movies, no one watches those

Well the plot thickens...

I literally don't know where to start to try and talk through Marni's latest news and the discussion around it however here are a few points...

> Creative issues... the story hasn't been a secret to anyone for years, the story shouldn't be a shock to anyone.
> Not spectacular enough... what was cut, what can be put back, this isn't a pyro show so was also going to be on a different scale.
> What was pitched wasn't up to scratch... and now what we have got isn't up to scratch... why did this get signed off?

I am baffled. I personally think the show that was promised would have been a perfect fit for Animal Kingdom and it's a shame that it looks like that the technology installed can't meet the brief or certain items aren't worth the perseverance to get into a show ready state.

The show is simply not the wow factor is needs to be and was advertised to be....and this is coming from higher ups. Very high up

When Avatar opens their goal is to make AK a full day park in most eyes.

My "guess" is they will open up with a show called Rivers of Light and it'll be good, especially compared to the Jungle Book, but it's not what was expected and hoped for. We'll see if they make changes to it or run it however they can and just do a completely new phase 2 show at some point.

Tons of hype
Tons of delays
and tons of mismanagement

Welcome to the new Disney
