Rumor New nighttime show at Epcot

I’d love to see a RoE+RoL+WoC show! Seeing World Showcase Lagoon erupt in towering fountains, fireworks, lasers, fire effects, projections, drones would be breathtaking! I know it’s been said they can’t install the WoC infrastructure due to the boats but what about RoL type barges but a lot more of them placed all over the lagoon?

Illuminations 2000 will always be the best nighttime show at wdw...it will never be eclipsed.

But it's so time to go...fantasmic is even more ready to go...it looks like the free street show at a really gaudy casino on the Vegas strip.

But the reason you never get anything new is that people don't stop showing up for them! Stop booking dining packages and cupcakes parties!!!

Make them do something for you...demand MORE!!!

Just because there are lesser night shows doesn't mean Illuminations isn't outdated. The long interlude with just music is really boring if you can't make out what's happening on a too-small globe that has broken up projections on just one third of its surface. That was a Bad Idea. And only when I'm in the FP reserved area can I really make out what's happening on the projections. Now, add in the difficulty of seeing what's on the surface of the lake when you have people in front of you... Not only is the globe too small, but so are the water fountains. Wrong scale.

I actually think it's the easiest nighttime show to get a clear view of by far. As opposed to MK or HS, where you need a very specific orientation to view the show in a meaningful way, Illuminations can be viewed 360 degrees and it's the same show. It's almost never necessary to claim a spot 30 minutes in advance to get the spot you want, unlike the MK shows (which I also enjoy).

The music is timeless. The pyro and lasers provide the punch... It's peak Disney imagineering.

I'm not opposed to a new show at all, but I just want to pay my respects to what, in my opinion, is still a great show after all this time.

Rivers of light was underwhelming, but at least its new and the tech is cool. Illuminations has basically been the same schlock since 86. Fant! is better than illuminations, even with its incoherent plot. Illuminations is a basic ground effect fireworks show with an unimpressive ball that no one can see clearly enough to care what's going on. Blech. Been ready for that show to go for YEARS.

So you're sticking to your guns? Illuminations is the worst nighttime show at WDW and just a basic, run of the mill fireworks show?

It wins for me simply because it's not a meat market packed like sardines staring at a central point 1/4 mile away...
And if you're too close, then you see the projections but miss parts of the fireworks. Or too far away, you'll see all of the fireworks but miss out on the projections. I'll stick to sitting on top of BLT, far away from the crowds. I'll just reference Martin's video for the projections if I ever get concerned with missing them.

And I see Fantasmic as a show that centers around watching "Disney's greatest hits" on some poor quality water projections with some boring live action shoved in the middle that hasn't been updated in years. And the dragon is hilariously bad. Now DL's Fantasmic is a whole different story. While I can barely stand to watch DHS Fantasmic in person, I can watch DL's on Youtube several times in a row and not get bored. For having a dedicated area for Fantasmic but having much worse effects when compared to a version that is literally stuck in the middle of a park is sad.

But I won't disagree. It's going to be 20 years for the current version of Illuminations so I'm not against a change. I really want an original soundtrack like we have now to be in the newest version, none of this "well known Disney songs crammed into a 15 minute show" (which I'm fine with in MK).

DL's version of Fantasmic is definitely the best. I'm just always REALLY bored watching illuminations. Maybe not because its terribly bad, but because it never changes comparatively to every other show at wee. Whenever I see it now, I have no qualms to start walking to the monorail 10 minutes before the end.

I'm sticking to the fact that it's basically the same thing I saw in 1986, when I was 10, lol! Same premise. I know the ball changed and they added a couple pew pew lasers and a better speaker system, but they haven't kept with the times like the rest of the nighttime shows at wdw. It didn't bore me 20 years ago, but it sure does now.

By the same premise, Happily Ever After is the same show as the Fantasy in the Sky you saw in 1986.
I know...as if putting "the disney vault" on a building like a movie during recess and having some sappy take on "believe in the power of your dreams" narration is cutting edge or ingenious?

That crap is all the same...a one and done unless you're 6

Fair point. Everything's relevant. I guess I'm burnt out on the same offerings every time we go. Feels like I'm wasting my money sometimes. Disney pumping out 1 significant attraction every 10-15 years makes my ROI tougher each trip. I will say it makes us seek out other offerings in the parks that we'd normally not care to check out, but that only equates to a 50% payoff at most with our "satisfaction".

The only reason we go so much is because of the insane discount we get with the military salute offer, which has allowed us to stay at the deluxe resorts with the cost savings offset. The Disney difference in hotels and staying on the grounds is valuable, but waning. GF and Poly are awesome to stay at (never cared to stay at the contemporary), and I've stayed at 3 different moderate resorts multiple times as well. But even the offset in total vacation costs is reaching its Limit. We stayed at shades of green last month for our yearly visit and the upgrades they've made since the last time we stayed there (2012) are great. We're tempted to continue staying there for the immediate future unless some sweet sweet deal pops up for the poly or gf. I'll never book another moderate resort as long as I can get sog reservations.

Back on topic... Illuminations needs plussed up so badly it hurts. Do something with it, anything!
