The show at the Olympics didn't seem to really be any advancement over what we saw at Disney Springs. Still just a series of LEDs in the sky.
They were Intel Shooting Star drones - exactly the same as at Disney Springs. It looked to be very very similar to what we saw - a dotted outline shape in the sky. I believe it was a similar number too - about 300.You're joking, right? What we saw at the Olympics showed a huge advancement in their ability to effectively show and represent identifiable shapes. Disney Springs was a joke compared to what we just saw
I love the idea of a new show but It has me concerned. I saw Happily Ever After last night for the third time at a different perspective than I saw the previous 2. In my opinion, it reminds me of why tech is great but you should always be careful on writing or pacing of a show.
If my Fireworks Dessert Party next January for my wedding is disrupted by this... i.e., Illuminations is under refurbishment, I will SCREAM.
According to an article on Wired, the PyeongChang show used 1,218 drones, which set a record for most drones used in a show.
I just saw it for the first time...and I am NOT a fireworks guy (actually think they divert attention from important issues)...
I really liked it. But even still...it's got such a limited appeal longterm. I guess they can tinker/modify it to change it up easily now...but in 5 years if it's basically the same? It's gonna be really old. They overuse these shows and the appeal goes away if you're not a first/only timer.
HEA and Fantasmic have similar storylines????I love Fantasmic! Was the only reason why i visited DHS last year.
Happily Ever After and Fantasmic do have similar (Albeit not identical) storylines though. Would like to see a little bit more distinction.
Ah sorry, I was referring to the closing ceremony which used 300 drones. The opening with over 1000 was prerecorded and not live, so that doesn’t count!According to an article on Wired, the PyeongChang show used 1,218 drones, which set a record for most drones used in a show.
While I understand what people are saying about the over use of projections at all the fireworks shows I can't help but wonder if people used to think the same thing when WDW had three Fireworks shows running at the same time at all the parks? After all, it's just explosions in the sky timed to music... gets kinda old doesn't it?
HEA and Fantasmic have similar storylines????
The Illuminations party has been the centerpiece of our wedding since we began planning a year and a half ago. I just can't with this. Sure, I don't want the show to change -- but more importantly, I'd rather have ANY show than nothing by January!
Well thats someones opinion, i respect that. But saying they have similar storylines is just plain silly. They are nothing alike........ like at all. I enjoy both! That's the excuse those who hate HEA use, they're not at all the same. Remember just ignore those who criticize Happily Ever After, I know I do. At this point they're just being bitter for fun.
Uh...Goose died.....But how many did maverick, goose, and iceman shoot down?
Uh...Goose died.....
As a fan of the current show and its predecessors, I’ll be sad to see it go, but hopeful that it’s spirit lives on in its replacement.
That being said, I’ve thought for some time now that there is one, and only one, way to celebrate the final performance of reflections of earth, whenever that may be:
1. Stage the WW3 barges in the lagoon....gonna need those.
2. Symphony orchestra performs the soundtrack live! Place them at Showcase Plaza.
3. Kelly Coffey sings “Promise” live with the orchestra backing.
And there you have it. Not a dry eye in the house.
C’mon Disney...DO IT!
