I've never read the books, I did not see the first movie, nor will I ever buy into this franchise. Even as a female, it's just not my thing. I'm not knocking those who enjoy it, but I just don't see the appeal of this series myself. Also, I think Kristen Stewart is a horrible actress! I've heard that she "fits" the character of Bella (don't ask me how I know her character's name :lookaroun), but that is not something I want to find out for myself.

I agree. I don't like her as Bella or as an actress. She really makes it clear that she doesn't want to be in her current position. I know it must suck to be followed by people 24/7, but still.

Aaaanyway. I watched the New Moon premier on E! this morning. Was good. I also saw the Ryan Seacrest interview with Rob. Did anyone else watch the publicist cut the interview short? Kinda an overreaction there.

I felt the EXACT same way until a friend of mine pretty much forced me to read the first book. I resisted for so long, because never in a million years did I think I would like it. I just knew I would hate it. But I totally shocked myself....I read all four books in less than four weeks...my family pretty much was neglected for nearly a month because I could not put the books down!

I read a few pages of the first one and thought it was dumb..the same thing with Harry Potter...dumb!:D

See, now, Potter is odd like that. The first few pages are VASTLY, VASTLY different from the rest of the book. Give it another chance, read into it more. Get to see Harry, and the other characters. You'll be hooked.

Twilight? 100 Pages later, it's the same smut.:lookaroun

Hey, even *I* gave Twilight a chance.....but I'm sorry. 150 Pages in, and not a logical or coherent thought, and I'm done.
Eh, you gave it a chance. It's not for everyone. I know a few people who are in the same situation as you.

Although, I did get one of my guy friends hooked. :D Not that he would admit it. But in one month he had read all 4 books. It made me giggle.

That's what happened to me. One of my girl friends wouldn't shut up about the stupid thing so I finally gave in and read it and I liked it.

Even though the depression part of New Moon was simply HORRIBLE to get through. :brick:

Agreed. :dazzle: My sister skipped most of NM because it was hard to get through.

Because of that, I didn't have high hopes for this movie. But it looks like a big step up from Twilight.

It was probably my least favorite book...but from what I've seen Chris Weitz has done a great job with it. He's a definite improvement over Catherine Hardwicke. The more I watch the first movie, the more the little things that are inconsistent really annoy me...I'm not usually super nit-picky when a book is adapted into a film, because I know changes need to be made....but there was so much in the book that just got overlooked. Twilight was okay, but I didn't love it. New Moon is looking much, much better.

There are few moments in life that have given more pleasure than cackling the entire way through the New Moon preview, much to the chagrin of the girls sitting behind me in the cinema. How anyone can take this franchise seriously is beyond me. I love me some vampires, make no mistake, but the entire series reads like bad fanfiction. Tasteful literature continues to evade a disgustingly large portion of the human population, it seems.

Oh, and I'm 25 and female. I seem to have found the loophole in the whole "target audience" thing.

Who defines what "tasteful literature" is anyway? I've read books that are considered "great works of literature" and have been bored to death!
I guess I am just not a very cultured person...I also enjoy pop music and my favorite artist is Thomas Kinkade.:lookaroun And I like to read trashy romance novels while I am at the beach. But I am a very happy person! Maybe you should be a bit more open minded and accepting of people's differences in taste regarding books, movies, etc....it might lead you to experiences that are more pleasureable than cackling through a New Moon preview!

New Moon was also my least favorite of the four books.

But I am looking forward to the movie. I loved the Twilight movie, but it was filmed on a very low budget. But New Moon is big time!! Have you noticed how much better the makuep on the actors looks in New Moon? There are scenes in Twilight where the bad make up jobs really stand out!
