Rumor New Monorails Coming Soon?

Now what would happen with the existing Thales automation system if they got new monorails? Would they bring it over to the new trains or would Bombardier implement one of their city flow systems?
My guess would be they would just incorporate the new trains into the existing system. Thales and Bombardier have worked together quite a bit, the Innovia 200’s in Vegas work with the Thales system.

Should anything happen, Bombardiers internal backlog wouldn’t have much of an impact on anything that may or may not happen in Orlando.

There used to be small print on park passes... hang on...

The back of a 1993 super duper pass:

That was back when it was a totally separate company! I knew some older monorail pilots used to talk about how their paychecks even said WED Transportation.

I think that they have to there because any "train" with more than one stop is considered public transportation and, thus, has to charge. It's why the train at Tokyo Disneyland only has the one stop and doesn't encircle the park.

Wow... wild. You would think that they could get some sort of exception.

You’re acting like hiring outside engineers is some hugely irresponsible thing. Disney doesn’t do their own blueprints for buildings. They hire 3rd party architects and engineers on a per project basis. You hire people with the expertise. That doesn’t mean you don’t coordinate and review.
For gods sake, that is what I have been saying all along. You just feel the need to argue every point that you don't understand. It doesn't matter who does the engineering for Disney... there will indeed be some submitted to the manufacturer they are not going to run in blind and just say... hey, we need some new Monorail trains, build them won't you, let is know when they are done. We trust you to give us what we need. They might even use Bombardier for that but not without a whole lot of input and expense to have it be what they want. Now can we move on to a more useful conversation. Thanks.

Disney really needs to invest in new trains and track repair obviously. One more disaster and $ettlement will not be an option.

There is a decade long record of negligence.

I hope they replace the trains and do it for the right reason.

I agree. On them last Friday and noticed quite a bit of grime, scuffs and just plain old broken parts. The doors don't even need to be open to make you feel like you are going to fall out.

Disone! I don't believe it! Wow!

I bet it's just to film a commercial at GF. Has it gone farther than a beam or 2?

They scorched the TTC beam Poly bound beam years ago. Looks worse than a dirty beam. That looks very clean. There is hope.

Its long. Several beams long all the way through the station and out the other side. They've also cleaned up some of the beams in front of the Magic Kingdom.

Can any WDW expert confirm or deny this?

The original Contemporary beams were originally painted black or grey or cast dark in color in the early days. Nearly every photo I've seen shows this. Even today they show a bit of it remaining.

Wow... wild. You would think that they could get some sort of exception.

Once you visit Japan a few times, you realize that, as a whole, they don't really do "exceptions", the way we do in the U.S. Everything is pretty much "by the book".

Even getting custom food orders is practically unheard of, but that's fine with me as everything is well organized and runs very smoothly.

Mine didn't. And that was in the 70s
This would’ve been in the 80’s, in any case it was second hand information to me so I can’t confirm beyond that.
I didn't read this whole thread, but, might they be referring to Disneyland? Even if not, Walt was long gone by the time that WDW was in operation and along with him probably went WED Enterprise.
WED was bought by WDP in 1965 to prevent conflict of interest.
WED Transportation was a subsidiary of the Disney company. They used the company a little more heavily in the 80’s and marketed monorails and people movers outside of the parks including selling a peoplemover system to the Houston Intercontinental Airport. So it was a distinctly separate division of the company that reached beyond just the parks. They essentially sold off all the technology to Bombardier as part of the Mark VI project which basically ended the company.

Edit: Looks like the company was active from 1980 - 1994.
