New Mickey figurine set (including SMRT-1!)

For any New Yorkers or visitors to NYC, they have a new window display publicizing the Vinylmation at the WOD store on Fifth Avenue. I went this weekend, and have never even heard of these creatures; I've seen the posts during the past few months, but thought some Disney fan made them, decided to create different designs, and post their creations online... lol.

Who knew this would be the next big thing to hit Disney merchandise? I wish I would have taken a picture to post on here because the window display was actually pretty cool. If I remember correctly, the advertisement banners in the store said the figurines would be available for purchase here in NYC February 6.

I have been reading these forums for several years now, everday, and this is my first post! I have spent many waking hours scouring this site to get my fill of Disney magic each day; so, thank you to all those fans who keep the spirit alive for those of us who are away...

I'm curious - was this the Park 1 series, or are they skipping right to the Urban 1 series (which might make more sense in NYC?)

Park 1 has Yeti, Figment and Kermit. Urban 1 has the upside down mickey and the masked wreslter mickey (which I believe is called dragon for some reason even though that's clearly not what he is!)

The only ones I remember being advertised were from the Park 1 series. They don't actually have any figures on display, yet. The window display, as of Sunday, had an enormous white mickey figurine (taller than a human) that rotated on a platform with the many different "vinyl" options hanging from the ceiling, almost like garland, around it. I'll try to get a picture next time I'm over that way.

Ha! That's crazy. I'd definitely like to see a picture if you ever get a chance to take one :o)

It's so weird that they keep coming out with "one last batch" of Park 1. Makes me wonder just how limited these suckers really are. Granted, I don't think they ever mentioned an edition size for the 3" figures. I suppose it can be argued that anything not sold *forever* is technically "limited edition".

So Tower and AoD @ DTD are the only stores still left with 'em? Had no idea there were any left - will have to make a trip over to DTD tomorrow!

It seems like there's a lot more of these guys than they want you to believe. Once Upon a Toy had a bunch as well, including some of the 9" ones that were supposedly sold out entirely. While I wouldn't recommend waiting to long to find some from the first series, I don't think you need to panic quiet yet as it would appear they will still be fairly easy to find somewhere on property.

I repeat. Park 1 series was shipped in two batches. They just received the second batch and after all of these have sold they're gone!

Right, and I've known that all along. My comment was in regards to the word that Park 1 was almost completely sold out for good this time, as in, of the final shipment. It seems after that word, these figures started popping up all over the place, which leads me to believe that they're much less "limited" than we're being led to believe. Either way, they're still cool and pretty darn addicting.

My best friend, Mr. EPCOT, bought two on Sunday at the Main Street Cinema. We were hoping to get Smart-1 but unfortunately, we ended up with 2 Yeti Mickeys. It was really frustrating.

Went to DTD this afternoon. Once Upon a Toy Store had a couple boxes left, Art of Disney had a full carton left, and World of Disney had two nearly full cartons left.

Once Upon a Toy Store - Haunted Mansion and Teacup
Art of Disney - Haunted Mansion and Haunted Mansion, though the lady had a "Magical Moments Trading Box" and said I could trade one for whatever was inside the box. It was the Sorcerer Mickey Hat one.
World of Disney - Teacup

:dazzle:

Must. Get. SMRT-1 and Figment.

Oh, and this is coming...

A good friend of mine is desperately searching for a Yeti. Perhaps he can trade you for one?

i got...

Yeti
SMRT-1
Light up Mickey x2

Emporium had a bunch and the store inside the Contemporary has them.

I got the two I like the least today - Poison Apple and Fireworks. Those are also the only two I was missing from having the complete set. Kind of mad at myself because I promised myself when I started buying these that I would NOT waste money and get every single one of them, but, well here we are. I also bought the 9" small world clock tower one today as well.

As for my friends who are not as lucky as me to get the ones I was looking for with minimal trouble- one friend is looking for a Yeti, and the other is looking for a Figment. The latter has several Haunted Mansions he can trade.

Here are the pics from the promotion for Vinylmation at the WOD in NYC.
