I can't believe you missed the posts expressing my unsuppressed hatred for the Dining Plan. Forgettable, I admit.

Would your angst be assuaged if I added my (admittedly) worthless opinion in a few other threads? Not all of us can average 47 posts per day, although it certainly seems like I'm trying my damnedest today.

In truth, I had no intention of stirring up a hornet's nest in this thread. Not my finest work, obviously. I'll skulk back into the shadows and bide my time for the next session of 74 whack-a-mole.

Oh, and if my boorishness offended you deeply enough, I'll be flying into Ft. Lauderdale tomorrow. Feel free to accost and rain blows down upon me.

All I can tell you is that this type of 74 stalking will get you banned.

I had thought my intentions of occasionally your moves had already been made patently clear. If not, I'll redouble my efforts so as to remove all doubt.

As for employment by the Mouse, no. In fact, the frothing masses here (and even yourself, mayhaps) would be scandalized to learn I've visited a Disney property a grand total of five times in my entire life. The last time was 10 years ago next month. I've set foot in an off-site Disney store exactly thrice.

I have enjoyed the few, extremely choice howlers you've littered in amongst the remainder of your faux humble, self aggrandizing dross. I'm quite certain you won't hold it against me for putting those in reserve to employ against you at a later date.

Keep up your end of the bargain and I will weave you a dazzling tapestry of vitriol. But I demand something more interesting than this rather pedestrian effort.

Nah, I don't think so.

I've been bored to tears with much of Disney's creative output of late, especially at WDW ... and frankly these boards are doing very little to make me tingle.

I was hoping you were going to be some semi-literate, semi-intelligent dude with an interesting perspective, be it similar or divergent to mine. ANd that maybe we'd have some fun discussions.

But it's plainly clear you have nothing at all to say on any count. Even the resident apologists and trolls seem to be able to discuss Disney.

Now, you say haven't been to a Disney park in a decade, you've stepped in a Disney Store three times in your life ... all I can think of is are you doing here then?

It would be akin to me joining a forum on pediatric dentistry, animal husbandry or rebuilding classic cars.

Now, I'm not even sure I believe a word you're saying anyway ... but you're just boring me to tears.

And I really was hoping for so much more from you.:snore::)

Obviously, everything these days is a "wait and see" (the proof is always in the pudding, not the early info).

But by and large, I am a fan of returning Show to the stores. It's absolutely true that the merch must be:

1. unique
2. high-quality
3. affordable
4. constantly new/rotating

for the store to be long-term success, but I take it as a positive sign that the Show elements are not forgotten this time around.

Kev, I am very much on a wait and see 'tude myself. But there is very little (OK, pretty much nothing) that has got me feeling positive.

It just seems like the umpteenth re-imagining and I have the feeling it will wind up like all the rest: they'll do it slowly and after opening maybe a dozen, maybe two dozen of the new look stores, they'll take a look at the results and determine it isn't worth the investment.

BTW, did you see that OLC is 'dumping' their Disney Stores in Japan back to TWDC?

That's not what you said, and I have read the whole thread. You're kidding yourself if you think ChrisM is the elitist here. I can barely stomach '74's condescending attitude toward "fanbois" in his posts.

To be fair, I'm much more condescending in person ... you should ask my friends and family ...or, better yet, some select Disney execs!

Now, I could be nasty and tell you to go choke on your pixie dust, but I am in waaay too good a mood tonight!

My mom and I picked up a Clarabelle cow from the Mickey Mouse Club collection for $29.99 and and it's a small world English boy for $14.99... Scary!!! Its such a shame to see these statues on shelves, out of boxes, where children and other people are handling them like they are tennis balls or something... I almost freaked when I saw a little girl "strum" the harp of the Harp statue from the Mickey and the Beanstalk collection... She ended up breaking the statue. :(

At which store did you get those? I know someone who would love Clarabelle ...

But yeah, that's kind of what I expected. These are pieces that Disney kept in glass display cabinets in its own stores and parks/resorts. And now you have a retailer like Maxx that probably bought them for like $5 a piece, if that.

So, I am sure there will be rampant destruction.

Frankly, the whole collection has been totally devalued by this move. What should have happened was if the pieces couldn't be sold at close to market price they should have either been stored or destroyed. Because now you have folks who have spent thousands of dollars (or more) on collections and pieces are going for pennies on the dollar at TJ Maxx.

Glad I don't collect them.

Rampant pomposity!

Alas, only a marginal affectation on my part. Meaning I'm only slightly less insufferable in person. But nonetheless critical when taking on the role of foil, lest I be casually dismissed as an atavistic rube.

Man for the, not of the, people and all that rot. I think I just paraphrased "Gladiator". Jesus.

*yawn*

My Ivy League English professor would fail you for over-compensating with a thesaurus, but at least you can't be accused of spouting malapropisms. You have used every word correctly.

Regarding the Disney Stores:

Who cares about the technology involved? The chain still sells crap.

*remembers a hilarious conversation in a scene from "Paper Moon."*

I agree with the general consensus here. The store might look pretty, and incorporate some cool tech. However, if all they sell is toys + clothes for little kids, then the store is the same crap it is now. They need to have something for the adult disney fan.

Just one more example of Disney aiming for the 5 year old set.

The only problem is even as recent as two years ago there was an Adult Clothing line and collectibles, and pins. You are complaining just like most people do but nobody bought the stuff. I have a great Mickey animated canvas from TDS.

i actually do buy lots of Disney merch which is market toward adults. I have more Mickey shirts then I can count. I just ordered a donald Tee off the Disney Website.

The main things I am referring to are the Art of Disney Items. That is stuff we need in store. I remember my Disney Store in Paramus Park, NJ. It had an entire room dedicated to the art of disney. Now there is not one single collectable in the entire store. I do not like to order things like that online because I can't get a good feel of what they actually look like.

What I am driving at is, there needs to be a variety in store. It can not all be kids clothes and toys. There is only so many mickey onesies a child can have.

My store had the same Art of Disney Section, we got rid of it because the stuff only sold when marked down to 75% off and there was a huge theft problem

I can't speak for the theft issue, in the area of the store I was referring to theft is hardly a problem.

Now about things being marked down 75% being the only way to move items off the shelves. What that says to me is that the original price point was unrealistic. The disney store in New Jersey can not be charging the same price as the emporium in the MK. I understand some items demand a very high price point, but this comes back to variety. You need to have a wide range of items. More items at a lower price, and fewer as you approach a very high price. Disney collectables are obviously a very profitable venture, otherwise there wouldn't be so many different items available. They just need to find a way to get these items in store at realistic prices. Look at Hallmark for example, they sell a line of precious moments Disney figurines. These things sell like crazy, why then are they not available in the Disney Store? Things like that would definitely sell, and boost store profits.

No I am telling you theft is the main issue and reason why this section of the store was closed.
