Sooooo …. How about that HM queue project? Or is this now HGTV?
😂
New queue is still being built, walls that form the new queue appear to be mostly finished, they are now adding the theming.

I created these two images for this thread 13 months ago, in August 2023. Has it changed much? Or is this still what they're doing with the new queue, plus the gift shop in the exit where the old Splash Mountain extended queue/Fastpass machines used to be in the 1990's and 2000's?

It’s still unknown the exact details. We’ll know soon enough, matter of a couple months.

The exit was always partially blocked, and the view of mansion obscured.

I could be wrong, but I don’t think this will make much a difference.
I disagree. It was a tiny area sure but with a big building going into a tiny space not designed for it- it is going to be a nightmare exiting the ride. And I like seeing the mansion from a distance as I walk from Galaxy's Edge and walk past Hungry Bear and Splash. Now this building will be blocking one of the best views of the Mansion.

At the same time, the shop has essentially the smallest footprint of any shop in the park. I imagine it will be cramped. Maybe an outdoor shop would have been better. I think ideally a garden themed outdoor shopping space in Magnolia Park would complement the Mansion well, but that space is now gone.

Everyone must have been experiencing a different Disneyland than me. You never could see the full mansion from in front of Splash.

The shop is over at the red box. The side of the mansion was always obscured by trees.

Right. I wish they’d put some of those trees back if possible. Between the Mansion and the new shop. The trees would help obscure the scale issues between the new carriage house and the Mansion.

Its the normal complaining, but its going to be pretty much the same view just now with an additional building.

Partially obscured by trees is very different than partially obscured by a disproportionately large new building. This was already discussed.

Right. I think he was referring to people who may have been complaining that the view of the Mansion is obscured when coming from CC. But I’m not sure I remember reading such a complaint.

There was one on this very page!
I think the building is too big and too much of an eyesore and it blocks views of the beautiful mansion and creates a bottleneck that did not exist before or needed to exist by the ride's exit.

The only read of this post is that it's complaining about views of the mansion from CC, because the new building is not even close to the frontside of the mansion to be blocking views from NOS.

I was getting caught up on this thread and thought... "How bad could it be? It's just a little gift shop."

So I Googled up some construction pics and.... aw, hell. This looks ridiculous. Why is it so huge? I don't get it. :banghead:

Must have missed it. Regardless, it wasn’t my complaint. Never has been.

Again, it has to be "large" because it needs to have room to be a gift shop. It is incredibly small compared to basically every other gift shop in the park. It's smaller than It's A Small World Toy Shop, the Main Street Mad Hatter, Humphrey's, Avenger's Vault, Seaside Souvenirs . It's around the same size as Le Petit Chalet, Embarcadero Gifts, San Fransokyo Maker's Market, and The Briar Patch. I don't think we could have realistically gotten a smaller gift shop for Haunted Mansion. Unfortunately, Disneyland is cramped, so things have to be close together. I think something taking up Fowler's Harbor would have been a better location, but that's just not realistic.

I still think it will be quite nice and I love HM having its own shop right at the exit. Plus if they use the old HM shop for the rumored PotC que extension that would be a huge win for the park cause that PotC get way to long into the NOS imo

I’m no architect or engineer but I don’t think the peak of the roof needs to be that high. That seems to be a design choice.
