Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but the area behind the scrim is lit up after the Jack scene so you can see thru it and view the hanging corpse.Isn't that just a screen during HMH?

I honestly thought it would be way more noticeable of a change. I would not be able to tell if I didn’t know already from these forums.
Probably saves them on maintenance costs of some sort, but regardless, looks great!
I was under the impression that that was still a screen that transitioned to appear to show (without actually showing) the normal attic scene.Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but the area behind the scrim is lit up after the Jack scene so you can see thru it and view the hanging corpse.
Well, flat neon cutouts are way easier to mimic with cgi than the physical 3d hitchhiking ghosts.I honestly thought it would be way more noticeable of a change. I would not be able to tell if I didn’t know already from these forums.

No. The scrim is either replaced or covered by the screen. It is not transparent. You never see the actual attic during HMH.Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but the area behind the scrim is lit up after the Jack scene so you can see thru it and view the hanging corpse.
Well, these have always been simple two-dimensional images. The Hitchhikers are a whole 'nother story.I honestly thought it would be way more noticeable of a change. I would not be able to tell if I didn’t know already from these forums.

ETA: Okay so it's a ghost fountain now, but at least it was preserved!

It certainly felt like it was still a screen in person, at least to me.
Ok, I stand corrected, it always looked like we were looking at the regular attic to me after all the Jack scenes with maybe some minor projections for all the after effects.Well, flat neon cutouts are way easier to mimic with cgi than the physical 3d hitchhiking ghosts.

Please, please, please, please, please be true. Here's a line from Micechat's article:
"The hitchhiking ghosts (and the Haunted Mansion Holiday’s presents that take their place during the overlay) are now projections. But don’t worry, they’re not cartoons like the Walt Disney World version. We’ve been told that if you didn’t know they were now projected, you might not notice any change at all other than that they are now well lit."
I'll reserve judgement until I see them myself. I guess I am curious as to why they'd bother with the change at all, though? I can't imagine they were eating into any kind of budget.. only thing I can think of (logistically) is now changing out that scene for HMH is easier going forward?
I like the hearse placement and the fact they used the old fountain is nice imo, even as a planter. So far im into the new queOh it’s still artificial turf. The grass to the right of the hearse looked like it might have been real. . Don’t mind me, just over here foolishly trying to find silver linings. So we have …
An ill placed hearse
An ill placed fountain with no water
Artificial grass
Confirmation the HHG figures/ effect are gone.
This is going well

Brilliant addition to the queue. Do we know if it's all still astroturf?
Of course we'll have to wait and see what it actually looks like but if they're going out of their way to confirm that it doesn't look like the WDW version it suggests Disney had at least some awareness that they weren't going to get away with that in the original. I'll withhold any judgement on it until we actually get to see it. If this is a true statement, then I don't really think it'll matter or change the vibe of the experience any. Here's a line from Micechat's article:
