I'd give this a solid B grade. The candelabra and flames are a nice addition. She's too static though. While it likely looks sleek in person, there's definitely room for further enhancements. Replacing the current face with one featuring glowing eyes.would be an instant improvement.

Overall it's a marked improvement over the obnoxious Constance.

It appears that this wasn’t the huge upgrade we were hoping for. I’m pretty pessimistic when it comes to modern Disney but thought we were going to be pretty pleased with this. The design is definitely lacking. Hopefully the effect is cool. Maybe they didn’t feel like they needed to hit a home run since they didn’t alter the stretching room. Haha

Unfortunately the standards for WDI have fallen so far to where as long as new changes are not outwardly bad, it’s a win for me.

Need to reserve judgement until I see this in person but this seems like a non-negative change.

That is unfortunate. Right, I’m not bothered by this as what it replaced wasn’t great. Just a little underwhelmed/ let down.

The face sculpt on Tokyo's Bride was best. Why not take scans of that?

Something about the glowing eyes and fuller face would look better I think.

Also, I do think the One Eyed Black Cat could be lit more

This would have been much better but still not my favorite. Just go back to the 70s version. It worked. Or at least that style even if projected

If the new effect for the Hitchhikers is anything like the digital implementation of the “gifts” on Holiday, I think we will be fine.

Mice chat had reported a while ago that it won’t be an over the top cartoon-fest like WDW got. Instead, it will basically just be a digital version of what we saw before. Their words were that, if you didn’t know the effect was digital/had been updated, you’d think they were the same figures, just a tad brighter.

Hopefully that ends up being the case. I saw Holiday’s version of the new projections in person and it was fine.

They re fine for Holiday. Will it be fine for classic mansion? I have my doubts. Hoping they pull off a more realistic subdued quality to match the current effect with the physical figures. I highly doubt it.

I think the new Bride is an upgrade to Constance, so I think it a win overall.

As for comments on the Bride's neck being "too long", we have modern actresses that have similar long necks, the Fanning sisters immediately come to mind. In many cultures around the world a long neck is considered beautiful and is accentuated by women to show it off. So I think its a perfectly acceptable look. I also don't think the Bride looks manly, but to each their own.

Circling back to an earlier post where I mentioned the new bride might be a sort of “draw your own conclusion about what happened to her husbands” type of scenario, I feel like there is at least a little bit of connective tissue leftover for those who like the idea of her being a “Black Widow” bride, if you want to believe that.

Constance in the stretching room:

Constance’s photo in the attic next to the new bride effect, similarly holding a flower/rose:

So, like, if you want to have that head canon, I don’t see why (as of right now), it couldn’t work. If she did make her husbands “disappear”, its definitely just not as “in your face” as before.

Great find!

Just watched the video and what a welcome surprise on a Friday evening after work! I may be late to the party, but even in the video this seems to be an improvement. Like many of us, I never cared for Constance, especially once the technical novelty wore off. The black widow storyline never bothered me, but it didn’t compel me either. There’s something much more haunting about the implication of a cursed bride, whose husbands seem to be meeting tragic ends. For my taste that is much more Mansion! It also is more interpretive, which has always been one of the ride’s hallmarks. Best of all, we finally have the beating heart back!

Yeah, Constance felt like her story was being spoon-fed to us and had ‘edgy 2000s’ written all over it. The slightly more tragic direction feels more timeless and is open to greater interpretation without force-feeding you a story. Much more aligned with the 1969 mansion
