News New Gondola Transportation - Disney Skyliner

I’m a big magic fan, so I really appreciate the Houdini era stuff. It’s kinda like Trader Sams lite with the special effects. And it makes me think of (and long for) the House of Magic.

Unfortunately, they've removed a lot of the fun out of Abracadabar. There are no longer interactive drinks (for example, the Magic Mirror no longer comes in two cups that you combine to create a new "potion"). Evidently, according to a server who left Abracadabar for a new Disney location, management felt it wasn't appropriate. This definitely cuts down on the fun, though it is a cool spot.

:(

So just another bar then? Stupid decision, I wish we'd made it last time we were there. :banghead:

Boardwalk along with Seven Seas Lagoon are my favorite out-of-park areas at WDW. Both are relaxing enjoyable spots to spend a little time. We usually stroll around it at least once per trip. In fact we were married at the boardwalk pavilion, Sea Breeze Point, and had our reception in the BW convention center. These pics are immediately post wedding ceremony:

Favorite BW restaurant though is across the way, Beaches & Cream :hungry:

Maybe one trip we'll rent the multi-bikes (not sure what they are actually called)

Awwww for the wedding ceremony (congrats!!) and *awesome* describes those photos! Dusk is my very favorite time at WDW.

I like the Abracadbar. Great theming and drinks. Perfect spot to wait on your table at the Flying Fish right next door.

Totally agree.

Wait, what?! Visited Abracadabar last September with @Monty and they were doing the “magic” drinks. Would be a shame if they stopped those, it really made the place.

I love the clown face pool slide 🤡

That’s just creepy.

Can’t say how many times my “pool/garden view” villa has faced that dang clown. Ruins my morning coffee on the balcony.

I’m 2/2 for the clown view as well. Next trip is Boardwalk view so I think I’ll be safe.

Overall I’m excited to experience the Skyliner. I think it will add some new energy to that area.

You guys don't travel much. Everything at Disney is a watered down version of the real thing, you do realize that? The Disney boardwalk is the most sanitized thing I have ever seen compared to the real ones such as NJ. I hate to give NJ credit but their boardwalks are the real thing. Much more fun as well. I actually enjoy Wildwood NJ.

I think you're remembering an Atlantic City that has been gone for awhile now. It's not that magical anymore. Just Google 'run down boardwalk' :-(

Photo taken from 1/2 way up the big wheel. The ocean is behind you in this view. This is the center amusement pier of the 3 piers. The boardwalk is about 2 miles long and tram cars run the length. The boardwalk has the usual assortment of small souvenir and print t-shirt stores that one would expect in any beach town, especially one in Jersey with small shops of fudge, flavored "water" ice and pizza mixed between. The island is full of small "Doo-Wop" style motels with Neon.

This is beach jam. Twice a year, Scout troops can camp on the beach. The photo hopefully gives an idea of how massive this beach is. In the distance, is the furthest south of the piers, with its classic double-out and back wooden roller coaster.

Disney's Boardwalk Inn is a beautiful resort, but there is a reason people use the term "Disneyized." Aside from a certain week in November, Disney cannot handle that much "Jersey." Could you imagine a shops on Disney's Boardwalk selling t-shirts with colorful metaphors? And hope whatever the safety spiel is on the Skyliner, it is not as obnoxious as the "Watch the tram car, please!" warnings echoing through my mind as I type.

No I wasn't thinking Atlantic City. Actually the government took all the money from there and never put a dime back into the place, they had their chance but blew it.

Better explain. AC's glory days were long ago. In the 80's the plan was to allow gambling and use the taxes to rebuild AC back to it's glory days. Didn't happen, money just headed to the state government never to be seen a again. Big casinos were built doing well for a long time but nothing else ever changed.

I'm with you 100%......Govt. has a way of making money disappear with nothing to show for it. Loved AC back in the day of the Steel Pier, Mr. Peanut, taffy machines in the store windows and even a diving horse !!

WHAT? IT'S NOT REAL??? VACATION IS RUINED.

Talk about a party pooper ;)

Next thing you'll tell us is that World Showcase isn't a real trip around the world!

You mean, I'm not really stepping back in time to a turn of the century Main Street? THE HECK YOU SAY!

I'm sure Disney is just fine not truly recreating the Jersey boardwalk ;)

Why do people need to rain on the parade? If someone enjoys the Boardwalk at Disney, so what? I think most are aware it's not "real". I mean ... lol

The wildwood boardwalk can be quite seedy at times and this is coming from someone who spent at least several weeks a year there the first 20 some years of my life. I’ve had quite a few good times there but it’s not something I would want Disney to try to replicate. Tacky t-shirt shops, fixed games and a bunch of run down rides aren’t exactly what I’d hope for in a deluxe resort. The Disney Boardwalk is supposed to be a recreation of an old time classic boardwalk from days past. I don’t think they were trying to make an authentic current day replica. More Boardwalk Empire Atlantic City than 1990s Wildwood.

I don't think anyone thinks they're going to real France at the France pavilion. But a real board walk is in the realm of possibility since there are many board walks just like there are many fairs, carnivals, and theme parks.

Imagine if Disney advertised visiting their State Fair and when you go, it's not a fair at all, but a mall with decorations themed to resemble a State Fair.

Exactly....I live in Ocean City, MD and I’d be sorely disappointed if in building the Boardwalk Inn Disney carbon copied my home town. Essentially what they did is take a seaside town, keep the charm and filter out the riff raff and crap that sucks about beach towns. If anyone feels like Disney’s Boardwalk would be improved by adding in gaudy t shirt shops and water ice stands we’re going to have to agree to disagree. I’ll take Ample Hills any day over Polish Water Ice.

In the same vein I’m glad they left the daily human sacrifices out of the theming at Coronado Springs’ pool.
