There’s a chance. It is within the “window”. The earliest predicted operation with guests is end of April.

Right now they’re on schedule construction wise.

(Edited for clarity)
So bummed to hear the earliest possible expected is April we are heading down in March. And we are staying at CBR.

I don't understand the concern about fitting 10 people in a cabin. Yes, of course I'm familiar with the different shapes and sizes that visit WDW but at peak times all those shapes somehow manage to squeeze themselves onto a standard size bus seat. Why would the gondola seats be any different? It's at most an 8-minute ride, which is shorter than most bus rides. It's not the end the end of the world if there ever happens to be an enormous line and they squeeze 10 in a cabin. Note that I'm not expecting there to be many enormous lines.

As for the number of ECVs: in my experience buses from Pop and AoA don't take more than 2 on board, but there can be more waiting at the bus stop. If you just missed the bus and have to wait for 20 minutes or more in the morning you can pretty much guarantee there will be at least 3 or 4 that get in line at the bus stop before the next bus arrives. To those who were first in line it looks like there's a high concentration of ECVs but on the Skyliner those people would be long gone by the time the second or third ECV arrives, so it would look very different.

Photo update as of Friday, November 16, 2018. The Skyliner station at Riviera Resort. The pedestrian entrance ramp can be seen in the center. Sorry I misled myself. Could not see an entrance on the other side from this ground level view. Note the emergency generator in the front center of the photo, similar to the one at Art of Animation.

Not sure whether to post the following on the Caribbean Beach Resort page or here, but since it is gondola station related....here goes.

New pedestrian pathways are being installed across the road from Caribbean Beach resort building 41 to the main gondola station. This first photo is the pathway on the parking lot side of building 41. The second photo is on the lake side of building 41, near the road bridge. Since this is the main entrance road to the Caribbean Beach resort, this seems to be a rather precarious pedestrian crossing.

There has to be an entrance on the other side, unless Riviera residents will be forced to ride to CBR and reverse directions to get to Epcot. I'm almost positive I saw a ramp under construction on the Riviera side.

I don't doubt there will be all-way stop signs at that intersection, if not a full traffic signal.

The loading area to head towards Caribbean Beach will be to the viewers right of the solid wall. People don’t need to enter where the vehicles are turning between unloading and loading.

The ramp in the photo is on the CBR-bound side. The side not pictured, on the outside of the curve, is Epcot-bound. Unless they're going to be running clockwise, which would be pretty unusual.

Running clockwise. This places the queue at Caribbean Beach on the inside of the station building.

These aerials show the ramp on the Riviera side.

OK ... interesting. I had assumed aerial gondolas ran counterclockwise, passing on the right, but upon further YouTube research I see that there are systems running in both directions.

What we know, based on inform from @MisterPenguin

  • This is verified by around 5 insiders, permits, the beginning of construction, and documents obtained by the Orlando Sentinel. [confirmed at D23 2017]

  • It will connect POP/AoA and Caribbean with DHS/Epcot. And likely raise the prices there.

  • Possible I.D. of the gondola make and model here.

  • Can gondolas handle wheelchairs, strollers, and EVC? Yes, here.

  • Will it be installed in other places? No plans right now, but, always a possibility if it works out well.

  • All the gondola stations will be ground level with a steep incline coming in/out [here]

  • gondolas stations will be themed to nearby architecture: International Gateway will be Parisian; DHS will be Art Deco; AoA/Pop will be a Wave (near Little Mermaid); CBR Stations will be regal and stoney (which is which isn't confirmed). [here]

  • gondolas will be 8 person cabins from Doppelmayr, have a through-put of 5,000 people per hour, have wi-fi, and ample passive ventilation [here]

  • It has been reported that the gondola's will NOT have air conditioning, but there is extensive discussion that this should not be an issue.

This has been discussed in other threads but it is time for it to have it's own thread.

Recent permits related to Caribbean Beach Resort and DHS seem to indicate that a new transportation system between CBR, DHS, Epcot and possible AOA might be in the works.

The CBR permit showed these two new structures which by themselves don't look to interesting.

A DHS permit this week shows two more new structure around DHS, as well as a construction access road which is not shown here.

The shapes, location, and orientation of these structure form a interesting pattern that may not be coincidental. Thanks to @P_Radden for this map.

Based on this information a gondola/skyride system of some sort looks like a possibility.

1. First look at concept art: https://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/new-gondola-transportation-disney-skyliner.924477/post-7988587
2. Additional IG, DHS concept art: https://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/new-gondola-transportation-disney-skyliner.924477/post-8274905
3. Pop/AoA concept art: https://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/new-gondola-transportation-disney-skyliner.924477/post-8032964

But if there’s no air conditioning...and it’s completely closed in....how will Guests not overheat? That doesn’t make sense to me.
