Ten is the figure but the chances of always getting two or three parties who add up to the magic number are slim.
Exactly. I have a family of four. We would be happy to share with another family. If I had a family of 6 or more it may not be as convenient. And once you add strollers and ECVs to the mix an ideal fill of 10 becomes a pipe dream.

Sorry, a bit off topic, but who wrote the script for him?

My favorite takeaways:

"Guests arriving at the International Gateway station will travel through trees..." Ooooo, trees!!!

"One of the biggest business challenges facing our business..." The most challengingest of business challenges.

"Redesigning the castle to make it bigger and more magical than ever..." than ever!!!!

"Three new cruise ships to our cruise line fleet..." Cruise ships in a cruise line fleet, whodathunkit?

I know I'm being pedantic but, doesn't anyone at WDI have a thesaurus? Or a PR or Journalism degree.

I'm sure Bob wrote it himself. Writers cost money, and who needs them? After all, he's a theme park genius, just ask him!

I suspect that ECV's and strollers will be family connected and be just one family even if that is just two. There's another gondola in a couple of seconds. Also those things would be loaded in the special area.

Would people who frequent these hotels say there's an abundance of ECV's on every bus? I would think it would be one or two per bus max. That would put it at about every 10 gondolas at best.

Wouldn't matter because it isn't going to impact the regular loading anyway. It is done separately from others in stationary Gondolas behind the active line. The Gondolas in the front will not be stopping.

Never say never, but no guarantees. Likelihood is higher if staying at CBR though.

Ha! That's where we're staying as of now. I was thinking of moving away from the Skyway altogether though, just so I wouldn't have to stare at it all week. I guess I'll stay put for now and keep an eye on things. Maybe we'll have a better handle on the situation in January/February. Thanks for your input!

That's circular logic. There are only 1-2 per bus because that's all they usually carry :) I think most people would say the ECV population is pretty widely spread.

I would expect Disney to handle this just like they do most of their accessible attractions. Keep parties together best they can... avoid stuffing vehicles to max capacity by striking a balance of utilization and respecting individual paranoias about strangers ;)

Disney isn't going to stop things to fill every seat.. but doubtful they'll send parties of 3-4 alone.

I think they are going to have to, unless you are only talking about opening and closing times. There are times when there aren't even that many people in the Monorail cabin. I can see times during the day when there will sometimes only be 1 and many times where there will be 0 in the Godolas, but, they're going to have to keep running.

It would be interesting to get some numbers of actual ECV attendance. I'll bet it isn't anywhere near as high as everyone is making it out to be. And many of those are not in the affected resorts. But come from other resorts or offsite.

I agree there will likely be times where they will be more than happy to allow individual families or groups their own cabin even if they are half full. They will likely need to pack them tighter at busy times like open/close.

As far as ECVs I have no stats on total numbers but there are a number of places that will rent them to you and even deliver direct to WDW hotels. You can usually tell which ones are the rentals. I would say the vast majority of riders I see in the parks are in rentals vs riding their own ECV. They have become pretty popular especially in the last 10 years or so. I’d say it’s about 50/50 for me when taking a bus from a resort whether there’s an ECV on board. Not a scientific study by any means, but just a ballpark estimate.

I don't doubt that there are going to be some ECV that will be going on the Gondolas, but for the first time in forever (sorry), it isn't going to matter. They are not going to hold anyone up, they are not really going to cause boarding to stop, it should be a seamless operation.

I know that you aren't saying that, but, it is getting to the point where I am glad that I am old. I will not have to be around to see the implosion of society. I hope! It just amazes me the hate that is coming out from able bodied humans in a mental battle to want to deprive fellow human beings with disabilities the right to enjoy life and be part of society just so they don't have to watch where they are walking or possibly wait an extra 5 minutes to get someplace. This has been a real eye opener for the realization of just how self involved people have become. The unempathetic disease is just continuously expanding. I wish people could understand that at some point in life there will come a time when all of us are on the receiving side of that attitude. We don't stay young forever, no one does.

I don’t disagree with any of what you said. We considered renting an ECV for my mom for a trip we took a few years back since it was less than a year after a knee replacement. She ended up responding well to the rehab and was actually walking better than some of the rest of us a generation younger by the time the trip rolled around, but if that wasn’t the case I sure wouldn’t have wanted her to miss that family trip when there was an easy way for her to still experience it.

I actually think the gondolas (like the monorail) will make traveling with an ECV much easier than the busses. The busses are a huge hassle for the owner. There may be a few exceptions here and there, but most of the people renting those things would rather be walking and don’t want to be a spectacle holding up a line of people waiting for a bus. Having the double loading at most of the stations will take care of those issues. It Should be even more seamless than the monorails which seem to work pretty well to me.
