@liftblog - any idea what these buildings on the POP / AoA Station?

I have not seen these on any gondola systems I have ridden. They look like construction containers, but appear to be more permanent.

Note: Originals on blog Mickey.

The two structures aren't in the concept art for the Pop/AoA station:
https://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/new-gondola-transportation-disney-skyliner.924477/post-8032964

Although if you zoom into the first concept art picture, you can see a blue square on the right-hand side of the station that might correspond to one of these buildings. And in the second concept art picture, you can see an opaque structure at the "back" of the station that doesn't have an symmetric pair on the front (from the camera perspective).

At about 6 feet wide, these don't look wide enough to be restrooms. They seem to have one door and a single small "porthole" window, so I don't see them as control booths, plus why would you have two separate ones?

BTW, @danlb_2000, can you add a link to the first concept art post from your initial post? They are:
1. First look at concept art: https://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/new-gondola-transportation-disney-skyliner.924477/post-7988587

YUK!! Completely destroys the intended look and feel of the intended environment. Same with the towers at Epcot... France doesn't seem like France anymore. The gondola towers seem taller than the Eiffel Tower. Not a fan.... but that's just my opinion.

I don't understand this thought process, when it comes to Disney, transportation systems have never really been required to "blend in" with the themed environment.

The monorail, while it fits with the Contemporary, is completely theme breaking when viewed next to the Poly or GF. The MK train doesn't fit at all with Tomorrowland. For some reason people are deciding that the Gondola now needs to be the one that fits at all points. It just doesn't make sense.

As for France? We know the tower is barely visible from the park...really only visible from a very specific angle.

There are 2 doors visible, one on the end and another on the side. And I would not characterize that window as a porthole, it's easily large enough for someone seated at a desk or console to see out of onto the platform.

They are not prefab. Here's a photo from of one under construction:

I’ve been in the camp thinking this stuff is quite ugly, but this is a good point. My hope is that it somehow looks a bit better when the gondolas themselves are up and running... that it’s kinda’ “cute”... or something... ;)

Honestly, I really think its a case where the Photographs make it look worse than it is. Yes you notice the new poles, but I never went god that ruins everything. Never came to mind as I walked through Epcot.

I guess when I was there last I was actively looking for them... most people probably won’t.

As much as I love the idea of the gondola system serving previously under served resorts with a better transport option, those photos make me a little uneasy about the visual impact at a themed resort, especially the photo from the foot bridge. But I think anything they put in for transportation, especially if it serves as the hub of that system, would have a big visual impact. At most other places the towers don't have to clear buildings, so they're shorter and much less noticeable. I hope that resort will embrace the change in appearance somehow, because it's impossible to hide.

Part of that is those things you’re specifically mentioning aren’t “new” and thus conversation about them nearly 50years later seems futile. I personally believe they should try to conceal the train from Tomorrowland as much as possible. The monorail doesn’t bother me at poly or GF because of the limited view of them from inside the resorts and the train being “white” makes it fit better at GF than Poly. Although this whole conversation is perhaps just a futile being these plans are moving forward regardless of what’s posted here. If the skyliner could have been hidden a little more at the resorts I would have liked that option better, as it does take away from the “look” of the resorts some.

People wanted kinetics, well here is kenetics. Beats stringing them over Fantasyland any day.
I do agree with the idea that for CBR, it's hard to tell the impact from just the towers. I agree that the constantly moving gondola cars could become a constantly moving sculpture, like a mobile, and add an attractive, slow dynamism.

Or they could clash even worse.

We will see. I'm hoping for the best.

The other thing I wonder is how long the existing CBR buildings are going to remain. Does anyone know how old the Aruba and Jamaica buildings are? I wonder if Disney has long-term plans for putting up another new tower resort around the lake, though with the path of the Skyliner I can't think of a perfect location that doesn't have the Skyliner ruining either the lake view or the entrance/approach view of a new tower hotel - unless they put it across the lake and then it seems to far from the stations to be ideal.

Agree, however, the reason I asked if they were more permanent is that it appears that the insulation was installed on-site. all of the modular spaces I have dealt with are fully self contained and sealed - just connect to power and go.

Typically, one does not install insulation on-site in a temporary building.
True, but it was 94 every day I was there three weeks ago... I'd be insulating any building I'd expect people to spend any time in.

Look like operator houses a.k.a. "lift shacks" to me. Normally there is one per station, not two. They are places for supervisory staff to sit with a touchscreen control system that has more features than the outside boxes. Also cabinets that house lots of back end electronics. They are usually larger at the drive station, which in this case is at CBB. So I'm a little surprised how big they are at Pop Century.

Are they going to have an emergency generator at each of the stations? I remember upthread discussion of the one spotted outside of Riviera and two outside the CBR station. In this discussion I think it was tentatively concluded that these looked to be permanently installed generators rather than just worksite generators. If so, I was wondering where the Pop/AoA one would go? Would they put it on the shoreline and have the transfer switch back there? Or would they put it out by the station in the middle of the lake? And why would there be a full enclosure? That leads me to conclude that these don't have anything to do with the generator, but I thought I'd bring it up.
