I was talking about loading from both sides of the station. There were actually some questions about this recently since we can see the path to one side of the station, but's it's going to have to be a longer more round about path to reach the other side.
OK, I know it seems like sarcasm from me, but, honestly I have to ask. If one is going to put 10 miles a day walking around the Parks, what difference is a few feet really going to make and we don't really see how this is going to finally be configured when it is all done. Either way, if is a shorter or a longer distance the seem to me to be totally irrelevant. How much extra do we walk in queue lines at attractions. Spend a day walking the switchback ramps for the Monorails at Epcot. Or, for that matter, what we used to have to do if we had a wheelchair bound group member pushing those things up those grades.

People are complaining about 5 minutes in an un-airconditioned gondola car after having walked around for hours in the blazing sun in the parks. :)

Anyone have any idea which will be faster between DHS and EPCOT, boat, bus or Skyliner?
If you judge the distance, almost seems like Bus or Boat will have that one in the bag. You'd have to ride 3 legs of the Skyliner before even switching over to the DHS line. After that, it's another leg.

I think Skyliner will win. If you hit the boat or bus just as it's about to leave it may be close, but I think on average you are going to be better with the Skyliner. As others have said, walking is probably fastest especially since there is never wait.

Total distance via Skyliner is about 2 miles. Some have said the Skyliner will max out at 14 mph, others have said 11 mph. Either way, that's 11 minutes or less at full speed. Add a few minutes for passing thru the stations and the transfer, and it's easily under 20 minutes.

The bus from the front of Epcot takes about 10 minutes; the boat from IG takes at least 25. So the Skyliner easily beats the boat. It looks like a toss-up for the bus; I give Skyliner the advantage over the long run.

You also have to remember that the bus goes to the front of the park and it’s a country mile from the entrance let alone the back of the park. The gondolas, like the friendship boats go to the back entrance.

3 legs before the DHS line? There are only three lines:

POP/AoA to CBR
CBR to DHS
CBR to IG (via Riviera)

From the IG you would board and change at CBR.

Between boat and Skyliner, it would probably depend on whether there was a boat waiting or if you’d just missed one. If the latter, I would say the Skyliner. (Actually, I’d walk which is faster than the boat, even if you set off together).

But for the novelty value, I would ride the Skyliner at least once.

3 legs.
- Epcot to the turn station
- Turn station to the Disney Riviera Resort station
- Then from DRR to the Carribean Beach Resort

After that, you're switching lines, and going the "4th Leg" from CBR Hub to DHS.

Ultimately, it's going to slow down as it hits those corner stations, obviously, and then have to start the trip again.

Still only around 5-6 minutes to CBR though. And less to DHS from there.

Interesting enough though, Dopplemayr advertises on their website that their detatchable gondola lifts can reach 6 m/s, which equates to 13.4 mph. I'M FAMOUS! I've SOLVED the speed speculation!! LMAO! Honestly though, do we see Disney running them that fast?

You are trying to call out a curve.. where no one gets on and off... nor even STOPS... a different leg on a journey? Come on already...

That curve station would be the same speed as the rest, I'd imagine, if not quicker... However, there is still the other curve station at Riviera. I was just saying, depending on Disney's chosen speed, it may be longer than a bus.

The gondolas (I think) don't come off at the turn station, and the cable (I think) is always moving at speed, so the turn station (I think) isn't a big deal?
The gondolas detach from the cable at the turn stations. There are videos of this in action in other locations earlier in the thread if you want to see. Plus you can see the tires at the turn stations very clearly. This is is indicative that cars will detach and be moved by the tires instead of the cable, which will pass through the station across the bullwheels which will change their direction.

Gondola systems can make mild changes in direction without cars detaching from the cable, but it's rare. Here's two articles I found that discuss the issue of gondolas turning without detaching:
LiftBlog: Turning Lifts with Sheaves Instead of Stations
The Gondola Project: Turning Corners

And I'm sure @Lift Blog can give us an even more informed take on this!
