Yeah, it's not what I would have expected to see if it was a line for pulling off cars. There is a slot there with some sort of mechanism that lines up with the bar but to move a car out there they would probably have to stop the line and ship the car horizontally.

Came across this in a video that looks similar.

Definitly looks like it. Now I am curious what purpose that basket serves? @Lift Blog?

On a mountain, that's easy, they load it up with supplies that need to be transported to the top, or cargo that needs to come back down.

There's probably a hut, or shack, or first aid, or who knows what - maybe a food vendor near the top of that lift. Something that uses some type of consumable good. Where it needs to be replenished more often than once a year. They probably stop the line to merge it in. From the picture, I would bet they stop the line to pull it out and leave a gap on the line that get's filled in at the bottom. Then, send up a gap, stop the line and insert the basket for the trip back down.

I can picture anything from first aid supplies going up and the garbage packaging going back down to a coffee and hot chocolate stand with food and propane going up and garbage and empty propane tanks going back down.

Way easier than loading supplies on a snow cat every week or day.

If the thing at the top only needed to be supplied once a year, they might haul stuff up before the snow falls instead.

None of that would make sense on the Disney system since all stations are equally accessible.

If I had to guess, it would be used for maintenance. Lube for the wheels on the towers. Saves having to climb every one.

That's definitely possible.

This look exactly like what is being built at the Boardwalk turn station. Trying to figure out what purpose if would server on the WDW system.

Two additional options for removing carriers from the line at BoardWalk. I don’t think Disney’s work carriers will be stored there when there is much more space at Caribbean Beach.

This also intrigued me, as it shows a system very similar to Disney's for Emirates, and they have power... Don't know if it's solar or what, but the cabins have lights and there's a GPS inside... Perhaps they can pick up power from the cables? Maybe batteries that charge in the stations?

The system also has AC. It's powered by ultra-capacitors that are charged as the car passed through the station.

I believe London's system uses supercapacitors. It would not shock me to see the Disney system integrate light or audio using a standard battery.

But what confuses me tho is when you look at the Disney site photos... the side beam is perpendicular to the line... and the ceiling panels do not show any smooth transition path. Unlike the above example where the side beam is coming off the head of the turn.
