Which directly contradicts Martin repeatedly stating there are no current plans for Skyliner expansion. Lets think about which one of them are more reliable.

The statement is that its the start of a more unified mass transit system, not that its a start to a full gondola based system. Somewhere in the 100 page mark its stated that AK and Springs will be addressed by something that is neither gondola nor monorail. Im still hoping for the GondoRail.

I lol'd at "GondoRail"
I just listened to the JH podcast, but have been made aware for quite a while now that scoops on his part should always be taken with plenty of salt in your diet. I never think he's outright telling lies, as I'm sure info he gets is fairly accurate to a point. But he, as well as other insiders here, will definitely remind you that Disney always has many ideas cooking that don't always come to fruition. My guess is that Gondola expansion comes from the Blue Sky version of the idea, and that were they to move into a phase two of expansion featuring gondolas, that AKL/DS would likely be the targets of that second phase.
As someone who has stayed at AKL (and loved it btw!) would I like to see an additional mode of transportation added to that area of WDW property? Yes! Am I waiting with baited breath for the official announcement? No.
I would guess there is validity in Hill's statements, but the degree at which they will come to fruition is the big question mark that we all guess at until we hear otherwise. But who knows. I do enjoy speculation and find it fun to hear these kind of conversations, even if nothing ever comes of it.

The idea that it wont be Gondola was not Jim. This thread is insanely long, but the idea that the Gondola is phase one of the transport roadmap and "other" options are on the table for medium to long term plans. I know that Martin was not keen on sharing any more on the topic, because the knowledge was very limited and could compromise some resources.

They could add dry ice as needed to the cars. It would keep them cool and have a really cool looking fog effect as it flies overhead;-)

I’ve waited in those crazy Whistler Gondola lines on a powder morning and the one-time crush of people dwarfs most bursts of crowds at WDW (and I used to be a CM doing rope drop). Add in wet/icy/slippery ground, people wearing hard plastic boots that make them walk funny, carrying skis or a board that not only weigh a few pounds but also have sharp edges that can slice open skin, and my kids trying to carry their own skis, dropping them, stabbing the guy behind them with their poles while picking them up, while they can only see out of 40% of their goggles because they’re so fogged up...the Doppelmayr gondola will simply laugh at WDW. Cake walk.

I’m staying at the base of Blackcomb in February. Can’t wait to ride the new gondy. Should be a significant improvement over the old Wizard/Solar Coaster combo but I wish they had kept Solar Coaster for mid-mountain laps!

Fellow fanboi! I have my Epic Pass all ready to go for this year...

Maybe even heading to the Peak 2 Peak tomorrow since I'm in the area and feeling invincible now that the Sea to Sky Gondola and Grouse Tram didn't murder me.

I'd be happy with a walking path. How much could it cost to put one in?

I'm just waiting to hear the first "first person report" about this gondola.

According to some people on this forum, the first "first person report" will be "OH MY GOD!!!!! IM ON FIRE, FALLING AND BEING ELECTROCUTED!!!! TELL MICKEY I AM MAD THERE ARE LIGHTBULBS BURNED OUT ON THE CASTLE!!!! SAVE ME DICK VAN !!!!"

That last one was just to get **********'ed

I expect it to be pretty awesome. I like Jim & Len's podcast. Has there been discussion on their point that it will be an attraction like the monorail? My daughter that dislikes heights, rides & drops loved the one we rode in Jackson Hole 2 summers ago.

I'd love more walking paths too, but for some of those the distances are pretty far. A little walking bridge to GF & Poly would be an easier start. That's one of the drawbacks of having nearly unlimited land to work with at WDW.

I like how they said this is part of a coordinated transportation strategy, including the Minnie Vans. One thing my daughters wanted to do in London was ride their iconic cabs. I did a quick calculation of bus capacity and I think the gondolas can swamp it.

Not sure I understand that. What does it mean. Good or bad?
