So the thread has devolved into arguing about spelling/grammar...time to go now...

Thank you. I never claimed not to make grammar errors. And I don't mind when people point them out, as I'd rather not make them and prefer to correct an error errors I've made. I only continued because of the poster's claim that I had found the only error s/he had made on these boards.

Don't switch between a hypothetical phrased in the plural to one phrased in the singular.

I personally do not have any issues with heights. Heck, I lean forward on Soarin. But my husband and brother both have big issues with heights. To the point where they will not go 3 rungs on a ladder. There are a lot of people who are like this. So to say "it's not that high" is well and good for those who do not have issues with the heights, but it is too high for many, even in an enclosed gondola. Not to mention all of those with the fear of them "crashing". You can't fix irrational fears in people no matter how much you want to beat them with your logic. I think it is a big mistake to take away the buses to these resorts even with the gondolas.

Disney has plenty of other non-gondola served hotels to accommodate the relatively minor portion of the public that are afraid of heights.

Thank you for correcting my 1 misspell in 1500 posts. I think they will keep the buses running at these resorts as well as the gondolas. Take it or leave it, that is my prediction.

Martin has already said that the plan is for no buses to Epcot or DHS from the three gondola resorts. Everywhere else will still be by bus.

I'm personally very excited about the gondolas and have read this thread since the first post. So, every time there is a new post I open it with some level of excitement. I have hope that soon as construction begins this thread will once again deliver!

Supposedly construction begins on Monday. We probably won't see 'real' construction for a little while longer, though.

If even a small percentage of people were afraid of gondolas ski resorts wouldn't make a penny. I think we are talking about less than 1% of 1%. Statistically meaningless. IMO.

Fear of heights is a phobia affecting about 8% of the population. There are plenty of other resorts that are served by buses.

I don't care how they load them, if they accommodate strollers/wheelchairs/ECVs, etc. None of that matters. They are going to lose plenty of business to those resorts. I think you underestimate how many people will NOT use a gondola because of the heights.
How much higher will the gondolas go than the monorail? If someone is severely afraid of heights I would assume the monorail would be high enough to freighten them but the monorail doesn't seem to hurt the resorts it's attached to and they don't offer busses to the parks it services at those resorts.

There are indeed a small minority of people who don't like the monorails. It's not an issue they simply take the boat or the bus. Same will be true here. It's not like gondalas are going to be the only option, just the primary one.

If If If...If someone is afraid of heights, If someone can't load fast enough, if someone doesn't want to take a gondola, if someone gets sick on a gondola, if it's too hot on a gondola... This is all getting so tiresome... While I sometimes don't trust Disney with some of their creative decisions, this is new transportation, it's exciting and fun, you can still take your crappy bus if you want but seriously...lets lighten this forum up...

That's the point of this discussion.

Insiders have stated buses will no longer be available for the gondola resorts.

I personally think this may be the plan, but that likely will change after opening.

It may be only one bus every 30-60 min or something like that, but Disney isn't going to just leave people stranded.

If discussion is tiresome for you, why are you still spending time on a message board?

Doesn't the main option still exist? You know the one that says that you can go to a resort that doesn't have the gondola or should WDW be a once size fits all type of place? Choice is a wonderful thing!

but Disney isn't going to just leave people stranded.

You mean like the guests who want to take Disney transportation to and from the water parks?

The guests wouldn't be stranded. They could and should choose a different resort if they are afraid of the gondola. Otherwise they could take their own vehicle, a taxi, uber, or a bus to a different destination and transfer.

Many people have NO clue about the resorts or Disney for that matter.

They see the commercial on TV advertising free transportation to the parks, read about the bus system, and go on their way.

My boss is going next month, no planning at all. This is the typical guest if I were to guess.

The largest resort on property will be served by the gondolas, and it's also one of the more budget friendly ones.

This likely means larger numbers of people (greater cross section of the populous) will be represented at this resort. Like it or not, some people refuse to get in a ski lift. I'm not one of them, but I know multiple people who do.

I personally cannot stand the bus system either, but I can sympathize with someone who is afraid of being hoisted 5-7 stories into the air on a cable, swaying in the wind.

I'd imagine at the end of the day Disney will as well.

That same place those guests will read about the bus system will also tell them about monorail, boats, and gondolas. They can then make an informed decision of what's best for them or they will make a mistake and will have to deal with that when they arrive.

I can sympathize with those who won't ride the gondolas. My mother refused to ride boats. So that meant we avoided resorts that had routes only serviced by boat. When we did stay at one we found an alternate method to get our family to our destination. Disney did not provide a bus to accommodate our personal need and we did not expect them to.

Options-
Stay at a different resort
Use personal vehicle
Call a taxi
Uber
Disney uber if that becomes a thing
Bus via alternate transfer point
