Both of these are NOT issues. These are not chairlifts. And the height will only be enough to clear things with a little room. This isn't going to be way up in the air. Why build it higher than they have to?
You have to get some height to minimize the support towers.

These things won't hug the ground.

Besides, I mentioned that I realize they are NOT like chairlifts and gondolas from years past, but the perception is still there.

With all of the talk on height, I do wonder what the tallest point will be in terms of feet. I know a lot has been said how on average it won't be too high off the ground, but I do wonder what the tallest point will hit.

I don't care how they load them, if they accommodate strollers/wheelchairs/ECVs, etc. None of that matters. They are going to loose plenty of business to those resorts. I think you underestimate how many people will NOT use a gondola because of the heights.
Those would be the same people that won't ride splash because of the heights?

There are no doubt a fair number who will avoid gondolas. But I think you underestimate how many will stay there because of the gondolas. Bus transport is neiher sexy nor fast. Gondolas are both, in the minds of enough people to offset those with fears of heights. Gondolas won't be as big a draw as monorails, but they'll be a bigger draw than buses.

Exactly this, it is the idea of just hanging there. I don't know why people are trying to talk others out of their irrational fears. It's never going to happen as much as some one tries to reason with them. That is why they call them irrational. Like I said, I have no problem with them but know enough people with this issue that I know that these are going to be a big NO for many many people.

Thank you for correcting my 1 misspell in 1500 posts. I think they will keep the buses running at these resorts as well as the gondolas. Take it or leave it, that is my prediction.

You're obviously entitled to have your prediction but I wouldn't rely too heavily on that being accurate. One of the main goals of this project is to reduce the need for buses on property, so building this and continuing to run buses would be counter productive. There is little to no chance that a project like this and it's on going operating expenses would have ever been approved if it didn't result in reduced operating expenses elsewhere.

The problem you may have is that Disney may tell you - gondolas are the transport to those 2 parks. If you don't wish to ride the gondolas, you are certainly free to get a taxi. It will be no different than someone not wanting to ride a bus from a resort. If you don't ride the bus, you hire a taxi or have a rental car.

Good thing those people will have 17 other resorts to choose from.

  • Choose some other resort
  • Have your own car or a rental
  • Uber/Lyft
  • Disney is creating their own Uber/Lyft-ish service, so, use that
  • Disney may be getting autonomous vehicles that may be ordered like Uber/Lyft... maybe
  • Use Disney Bus to AK, transfer to DHS or EP

i needn't take it or leave it. I'll just wait to see what happens. You may well be right.

I apologize that my post rubbed you the wrong way. I was actually intending to be supportive of your contention that all the logical arguments that were being posted about why people shouldn't be afraid of the gondolas were somewhat beside the point. I agree with your view that some people will not ride the things and will stay away from a hotel where that is the transport option.

Also...

As they get older and know its not real then it looses the magic a bit.

Well not we'll or that not at... just saying. You might want to look in the mirror.

Thank you. I never claimed not to make grammar errors. And I don't mind when people point them out, as I'd rather not make them and prefer to correct an error I've made. I only continued because of the poster's claim that I had found the only error s/he had made on these boards.
