My only concern is what kind of load capacity do those have?

It's one thing to strap a little GoPro to one, it's another thing to even try an IMAX camera (let alone two of them if they are indeed going 3D).

Edit: Wikipedia says that an IMAX 3D camera weighs in at ~249 pounds... Since that's more than I weigh and I don't see a drone lifting me in the air, I'm going to say no to the drone...

Disney now owns Iron Man, so I assume they will go that route.

Does a fully digital IMAX camera even exist?

Wow, so there's really no chance of a handheld IMAX 3D then? Has to be copter, truck, or dolly/crane? Interesting, and yet kind of limiting.

Yeah, I worked at IBM in the 1990s when the first consumer 1GB hard drive came out. It filled an entire 5 1/2" drive bay and weighed close to 10 pounds.

It's a little surprising, though. My wife is a photographer, and her go-to camera isa Canon 7D, which is 18 megapixel and about a $1000 street price and is a normal sized camera body. Seems the tech would be there already for something handheld. Oh well, wait 18 months....

The fully digital one shown in this video looks to be much smaller...probably 20-30 lbs, but still way too big for your average drone.

Im going to go with the rest of the commercial piece for 7D... They shot the on-board video, now for high in the sky... We will need @marni1971 to get ahold of this footage to make us a new ultimate tribute video. I keep stalking youtube and vimeo for new ones.. ha (that sounds terrible, doesn't it)

I could be that they were taking advantage of the Flight permit and taking stock footage for commercials in addition to shooting the sorin video.
yea, i was thinking that too. Take the opportunity while you have it. Or, they were reviewing footage to see if they need a quick re-shoot.
