It's become an afternoon/evening park for me, so the idea is perfect!

In my opinion, Disney will take the most cost effective way out and convert Yacht Club hotel rooms to DVC. If the hotel isn't full, this will make it full. And Disney will not have to pay to build a whole new building.
Studios are the most popular type of DVC room and they are easily made from hotel rooms.
If the Poly sells well, I believe that they will repeat the formula. Disney converted some Jambo house rooms, as well. Those converted rooms use less points and are in high demand by DVC members.
If I were going to buy anywhere, I would buy these Yacht Club converted rooms.
I don't know about the SSR faucets, but we stayed there once and had our worst vacation ever. The room really was comparable to a Motel 6, except that it was so broken and dirty that Motel 6 would have disowned it.

What is the next step for DVC? Poly was announced sometime around August right? Seems like sales of GF and AKL are doing well, I know they would love to sell them out by the time Poly go on sell I am sure there is something in the wings. Is the Epcot DVC the only rumored?

Well theres that rumor of the one by River Country. I honestly see that happening before the EPCOT one.

I forgot I had heard that before, that would be a whole new resort, do you think the YC will ever get a dvc or will they just count the beach club ones?

AK is no longer being actively marketed. It's not technically sold out, but there aren't many points left either. GF is selling better now and looks like it could be sold out in a year or so. I am guessing Poly goes on sale sometime next spring for a fall 2015 opening. It will probably not take more than a few years to sell out the Poly points so they would have to break ground pretty soon for the next one if it's complete new construction if it's just converting existing rooms at YC/BC or some other resort.
The EPCOT rumors seem to be the most active right now. The River Country rumor seems to have died down due to the potential cost. Both would be pretty ambitious projects involving some serious infrastructure and major construction. They would need to do demo, build roads, drainage, sewers, parking lots and all of the other bells and whistles needed for a brand new resort. Converting deluxe rooms is much cheaper and quicker. The supply of possible deluxe rooms is running out though so eventually they need to tackle a new resort.

That's is what I'm thinking. If they can't find rooms to convert, then they're forced to start from scratch somewhere. And if they're going to spend all the money on a new resort then my best guess is it's going where they can build massive amounts of rooms, like Saratoga Springs. Theres quite a bit of land between Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness.

I guess it depends on how many people would want to buy at YC. I feel like the only reason DVC is at the Beach club is because thats where they had room to build new rooms. Yacht club is closed in.

The only DVC actively marketed is the one in Hawaii. I understand GF is the smallest of the newer DVCs and is close to being sold out. The agents at DVC don't know when Poly will go on sale (I asked when buying into WL recently), but given that some of the rooms are going to be bungalows, I bet it will be going at near the $150 per point rate the GF Villas are.
I hope Disney doesn't take existing room space and convert it to DVC, especially at some of the Deluxe resorts. That means that only 2% then is non-DVC. Or convert parking lot space into a DVC. Isn't EPCOT used as overflow parking for MK? Can you imagine buying into a DVC at $140 - $150 a point and it overlooks the parking lot at a park?

An Epcot DVC with it's own entrance makes a lot of sense. It would likely do well. As much as some of us dislike the DVCs and would prefer the money to go into the parks, IMO, if they do go through with this, they really do need to sink some money into Epcot as well. It should come hand in hand.
I also see them going with this first over River Country area just because it's more likely they won't want to spend the amount of money probably needed to prepare River Country for a DVC. JMO. But who knows?

River Country is on Bay Lake on the point closest to CR. The area is lakefront in front of where Mickeys backyard BBQ is now. Here's a pretty cool before and after picture:

You can see from the before picture that the area would have a nice view of CR and part of the MK including likely the fireworks.

Edit: I just got done going through this whole thread on fortfriends it's a really great read if you are interested in detailed plans. Make sure you scroll through all of the pages. These guys get an A+++ for breaking down the plans.

I think that if built this resort would sell easily. It would have direct transportation to MK and likely CR via boat so you could get to EPCOT too via monorail. In addition you would have some nice views of MK and Wishes either from balconies or beaches. The grounds and pools in these plans look really well done. The only issue I see is the cost to clear and grade the land and then build. Some of the land is already prepped, but the River Country property would need some work.

But what if they went with a Horizons theme for the Epcot DVC, with three wings called Brava Centauri, Mesa Verde, and Sea Castle? They could decorate with the original Robert McCall paintings and such, and go with decor to match the original ride.
I can almost feel the nerdgasm typing these words...

Please do not dumb down Yacht Club with DVC. The total overall feel at Beach Club changed very much with the addition of their DVC.
Let Yacht Club stay as a sophisticated, quiet Deluxe Hotel. Ok thanks.
Agreed. It is the only deluxe resort that truly feels upscale.
