New Enhancements, Dining Options Coming to Disney’s BoardWalk

I missed the Pleasure Island Jazz Company when it closed. It was nice to have a jazz venue out there. I think it would be a nice addition on the Boardwalk to have a traditional jazz club (or maybe a speakeasy).
At Disneyland park they have 2 jazz bands. New Orleans style, and Dixieland style. Crazy talented.

But that's the thing, there already IS a jazz club on property. Am I really supposed to believe that Jazz is such a popular form of music it is needed in 2 different resorts?

I think Scat Cat club is one of the best resort entertainment options available right now. I could see it also doing well at Boardwalk especially since they are two different resort areas with not a lot of overlap. Interesting though that it’s going from third party to Disney. And still nothing about big rivers spot.

It is nice, but I don't ever remember it being overly busy either. I'm just not convinced a jazz style club is close to popular enough to justify it going in 2 spaces. But, in the end, I will still say until they open up parking/a way to get back to a car from Epcot/down there without multiple bus transfers, it's not going to matter what goes in there.

Another website reporting Jelly Rolls is apparently closing in January to be replaced by a Disney owned club. Interestingo_O

If that's true, how disappointing.

Jelly Rolls is basically the only place to go at night at WDW, and it's a lot of fun. It's pretty unlikely that whatever replaces it will be as good. I don't think a jazz club will be the same draw as a piano bar that takes requests and can play a large number of songs from different eras.

Cake bake shop offers an "experience" for good or for bad, that you are not going to get at another restaurant on property. Its the type of restaurant that you would "travel" or schedule your day around because its the only place you can go to get it. Is it enough of a draw to entice people over to the boardwalk long term....I can't say. But it at minimum offers something that gives a customer a reason to seek it out, that makes it the preferred choice over more convenient food locations in whatever area a potential customer might be in. It appears that WDW does NOT have the goal of making the boardwalk its own independent revenue generator where they are facilitating/encouraging people to go there independently as a destination, as opposed to just an ancillary feature of the Epcott resort area. If that stays the case, then a restaurant there has to be its own draw, as the boardwalk itself is not driving customers to the area. I can't say this theme is it, but its got a better chance than insert random sandwich/chicken finger and French fry restaurant here.
That's exactly what it is! 💯 🌟

This would also entice people to visit this area as I'm sure anyone who's never stayed around the crescent lake resorts some may not know or would hesitate to visit thinking it's just other resorts.

They could open up anything and throw a cardboard cut out of a sign and people will show up the first few months because its shiny and new. Like others have said, what does this look like in a year?
I think this place shouldn't be compared to a Disney restaurant but instead an experience destination which can only be found in two places within the United States. It's as much caters to the state of Florida, Orlando and other nearby states. They just chose to built it on Walt Disney World property!

Jellyrolls brings life to the area in the evenings, which no other resort has going for it. Revamp a bit if you must, but why close with the abandoned warehouse of the Atlantic Dance Hall next door? I hope the rumors are false, but they usually are not.
The boardwalk is sadly another abandoned concept. It was a favorite of Eisner…who often used the meeting spaces when he was in town.

They tolerated a little “loss leader” action there…but they never lost.

It’s kinda homogenized now…sadly

ort Orleans FQ and Riverside also.

Also, the boardwalk has the street entertainment each night too.
True, there is some there.....but later in the evening it's really mostly indoors within Riverside when Bob is playing. Similar for Boardwalk, Jellyrolls keeps some activity going later into the night (and offers different value/entertainment type vs the street entertainment).

I think the announcement re swan and dolphin plays into the Jellyroll decision. If S/D is making a big push to expand its convention operations, I can see Disney wanting to try and own the location where Jellyrolls is, and offer later night/adult Entertaiment, and get the revenue from that business, as opposed to just getting rent from a third party operator.

Especially with new aand expanded meeting facilities going in at the Swan, it would have made sense for Disney to have a good CASUAL dining option open late night...A place to have a meal that is not fast food nor a fancy expensive dinner with a $26 slice of cake. They need a general sort of everythng Diner fare place for After park dining.... They now have more than enough signature dining on Crescent Lake...
