Will it really be like a NY deli and slice the meats per order? Will it be more like Subway and slice the meats offsite?

Slicing machines have training, safety and some places age requirements

If I had to guess, I’d say sliced in advance and cold, not hot…it won’t be REAL NY/NJ deli…the employees will also be called imagineers, cause you will imagine it’s a real deli…

The description says savory warm sandwiches. I'm sure it won't be a real deli, but I'd love it if they also have matzo ball soup. They'd better have good pickles as well.

Now I'm hungry for even the imitation deli food we have here in Minnesota! 😂

Yeah, savory, warm…they just neglected to tell you savory and warm just out of the microwave…yes kosher rye bread, kosher dill pickles…(and I’m a Gentile, lol)… I don’t mind paying for it IF ITS GOOD…we’ll see if it’s better than Earl of Sandwich…like EVERYTHING with Chappie in charge, expect the worst and hope for mediocre…

We have a restaurant in NJ called Harold’s…a corned beef or pastrami sandwich is about 30 bucks, BUT there’s about 5 pounds of meat NO LIE, and they give you about a dozen slices of rye…until COVID, they used to have a 20 foot long pickle bar, any kind you wanted…they’re doggie bags are Hefty bags..lol if they live up to 10% of Harold’s quality, I’ll be impressed!

I am probably the only one happy to see ESPN go...It was a lousy fit for the Boardwalk thematically...There are plenty of other places in this world to stare at the TV and scream... a high end resort themed to the 1940s seaside doesn't seem like the right place for it.
Disney Springs however seems perfect...plus that whole World Of Sports thing.
It would have been a perfect place for a reboot of The Adventurer's Club...
I join you. Goodbye ESPN! Never went inside. Never wanted to. Last time I stayed at the BoardWalk, I was having an amazing final Disney day at Epcot. It was a Sunday in the fall. We walked back to the room, still full of Disney giddiness to wait for our Magical Express and walked past ESPN to the sounds of drunken fans screaming at TV screens, some were outside as well. Disney bubble popped! Not the final memory I wanted from that trip. If that makes you happy, more power to you, but it’s the wrong spot for such a place.

Phew. For a minute there I was afraid we weren't going to complain about something before it opens. Now I can unclench my teeth and go about my day.

😂
Complaint NO, more like a prediction.
NY (Disney hedged by calling it NE) delis slice the meats on site. Huge quantities of meat. Just wondering if Disney will meet the bar it set.

Lesser places slice the meat offsite. Some even prepare sandwiches offsite. The food could still be reasonably good, just not up to the standard Disney is promoting.

Most delis slice meat onsite, not just in the Northeast.

That said I doubt Disney Cast Members will be using a meat slicer. They aren't selling cased meat that you can buy by the pound!

Yes it's a "deli", but it's still theme park food. Adjust expectations accordingly. 😄

Subway is a sandwich chain. The stores use presliced meats. Lettuce is shipped to the stores already shredded.

Jersey Mike's is a sandwich chain. Meats are sliced fresh. Vegetables are sliced fresh in the restaurant.

JMO I don’t expect top tier NY deli experience. II'll be happy if the goal is to exceed Mike's standards. Ill be critical if Disney's apparent goal is to be almost as good as Subway. Im not complaining before it opens, just laying out standards.

I don't accept the advance excuse of theme park food. This is a location in a 4* resort, at least in a resort Disney thinks is 4*.

I said that to my wife that you don’t see cannolis at a deli, but go figure..

You'll see them at some Italian delis around here. Especially if combined with a bakery. There's a few delis that also service as a small restaurant, they usually have cannolis.

I feel like Disney's deli is going to be an amalgamation of different types of delis and they are just calling it "Northeastern"! :D

In the end I'm glad we are getting a quick service sandwich shop because sometimes I just want a sandwich!
