ESPN Club removal begins at Disney's BoardWalk

ESPN Zone/ESPN Club could have easily been the international sports bar chain to rule them all, and given Disney a huge boost in getting ESPN as the preferred sports network for many leagues they've lost over the years - guarenteed exposure in x00 of locations in addition to yy million subscribers at home and on mobile. Shame the execs cooled on the idea.

With all of the consternation around conference realignment, following the recent announcement of USC and UCLA moving to the Big Ten and last year's announcement that Texas and Oklahoma are moving to the SEC, it seems like foreshadowing that that current signage that is going to be removed is for the ACC. Several of the schools in the ACC are rumored to be targets of future expansion by the SEC and Big Ten.

They do have this one in Disney Springs.

Which is fine but something more casual and large in a major area like the boardwalk was a plus. Disney springs can be a pain to get too. ESPN was always packed when major events were happening too.

"It's a great advertising opportunity! We play things that are exclusive to the Plus option. 'Check out all the great content you can get, only on ESPN+!'" - No one inside the halls of Burbank or TDO, apparently.

I am probably the only one happy to see ESPN go...It was a lousy fit for the Boardwalk thematically...There are plenty of other places in this world to stare at the TV and scream... a high end resort themed to the 1940s seaside doesn't seem like the right place for it.
Disney Springs however seems perfect...plus that whole World Of Sports thing.
It would have been a perfect place for a reboot of The Adventurer's Club...

True. Honestly, I haven't been down there since this place opened, but it never struck me as a sports bar. Cool place to grab a beer and talk with friends, but not a place to go to watch a game. Do they have the big sports packages? I mean, as angry as my last visit was to ESPN, it was nice to get to watch a couple hockey games I would otherwise be watching on my phone in the room.

It's July, so I'm betting all of this will still be under construction next April?

Hope the evening entertainers will still be out and about during all the construction. I would assume so?
