New Disneyland Parking Garage and Transportation Hub

Actually, even though they are inherently inferior, I believe there are actually Plans B and C.

One would be building a structure on the site of the Toy Story lot and both servicing the DL Resort (by bus) AND the Anaheim Convention Center. (This could be one option the city is hoping for.)

The other is for a structure occupying the entirety of the lot south of the DL and PP Hotels and running blue buses to the same load/unload area of TS Lot (since Disney isn't allowed to run trams across West St./DL Drive they way they could for decades).

Who knows what Anaheim wants. We know that Disney wants the solution that is cheapest and gives them the greatest control.

Yes, but the city won't approve the project. I'm still trying to get more detail on what's going on here, but what is going on (or more like, what isn't) is not good.

I wouldn't be surprised if there is some sort language that states that a parking garage project is submitted to the city for approval would satisfy the requirement.

Of course the skeptic in me might think they submitted a project that they knew would be objected to and that they were ok with the project going into limbo. So meeting the points in the tax agreement without really have to put out much more cash outlay other than a plan might be a win in Disney's eyes.

Knowing how prone to exaggerated alarm this community is I'm wondering if anyone here knows what the current capacity is for the current infastruture? Meaning parking, trams, pedestian paths, freeway ramps, etc to/from DLR. Is there room in the current transportation structure to support projected attendance growth without the Eastern Gateway? Are there attendance projections available showing what Disneyland expects once Galaxy's Edge opens?

If there was existing room they wouldn't be relying on bussing CMs and borrowing lots during the peak times. There is some more room in toy story... but without significant changes the wall is here. I guess we might see parking prices surge... or more aggressive carpooling incentives

Just dropping in down here because I have two very good sources who say the project as it stands is, indeed, DOA.

I'm sorta surprised that I -- and others here -- know this and Micechat hasn't written about this at all. They've become so ... so boring and predictable ... you know, like a Hillary pantsuit. Considering who writes the column, you'd expect better ... or maybe not.

I will pick up this discussion up on my thread over the weekend. But thought the DLers would be most interested.

Quite the shocker then this doesn't appear to be happening when there seems to be such a need for it.

What I don't get is if those hotels/motels were upset before at the thought of the bridge and lost entrance and thought they had a right to demand that Disney keep an entrance open so they can continue to operate with that big perk what's to stop Disney from saying sure, but then just having one bag check/scan on that side, much like they offer GC guests going into CA? Nothing says they have to operate it fully as they do today right? So, sure, you can enter from Harbor from your hotel just across the street but it may take 1-2 hours to get through security each day just so Disney can remind them all why they are in business in the first place.

A structure on the Toy Story lot would be a worse travesty than SWGE on the Discovery Bay plot...

That would be the absolute worst thing that could possibly happen at this point.

I'm having lunch with some people in the next few days that should at least provide a bit more insight into this horribly run project. Some from the inside and some from the outside. It should be entertaining at least.

I'll get some popcorn ready while I eagerly await your update.

Who’d have thought that prior industry experience being a disqualification for leadership would ever turn out poorly?

Isn't it fun how you can screw up the parks division all you want and still get promoted, but if you Rich Ross the studio division you get canned?

It's almost as if the parks are just viewed as an ATM! Almost!

Couldn't the entire Eastern Gateway property be used as a CM surface parking lot and give over the CM K-lot land to Toy Story guest parking? That would be a cheap solution that would still increase inventory.

Additionally, since the main impediment seems to have been diverting foot traffic from Harbor Blvd businesses I just wonder how many people actually walk to or from Toy Story lot now anyway?
