New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

I'm currently in the middle of a trip... our first trip under the new DAS rules and the "new" LLMP. As previously stated, we are traveling with 6 ticketed guests + a 2 year old. Thankfully, crowds have been low and LLMP as well as LLSP have filled in the gaps in a lot of cases. I will say that we purchased additional LLSP that we otherwise wouldn't have purchased under the old rules, most notably Rise of the Resistance.

The DAS caps you at 4 guests as we all know. I was told anecdotally that some attractions would bend on this if you ask at the front. If anyone is looking to try this, my recommendation is to expect a no and be grateful for a yes. I asked for a 5th guest at Mine Train, Peter Pan, Ratatouille and Slinky Dog. The CMs at the Magic Kingdom allowed us to add a 5th guest. We were told no at Ratatouille and Slinky Dog.

For Ratatouille, the two additional guests went in the Single Rider lane and came very close to being in the same car with the rest of the family. For Slinky Dog, we ended up riding it twice that day. I believe we could have done a rider switch and accomplished something very similar to what we ended up doing. In this case, my brother (the disabled guest) and my 5 year old rode twice while the other two adults rode once each.

At Tiana's we got Virtual Queues the first two times we rode and they were accommodating to us with DAS enabled LLs and Rider Switches.

It never came to it, but an argument I would absolutely make would be for late arrivals of LLs if you are traveling with a guest that qualifies for a DAS. DAS has always been open ended, and one of the factors at play is that adhering to a schedule is not always an option. We have arrived late (beyond the 15 minute grace period) for many attractions this trip and have always been allowed to ride. I suspect that if we were stopped, I could just mention we have a disabled guest in our group and it would be a very short conversation before we would be approved.

We have "made it work" on this trip, but I would still be very conscious of when I'm traveling to WDW in the future. Crowds are low, and that's certainly helping our touring.

Word on the street is that LL have a larger grace period now, beyond the 15 minutes like you experienced.

We consistently tapped into LLs far after our LL hour during the week between Christmas and NY. Definitely an hour after. Tapped green. CMs didn’t even glance at us.
I did hear that the return windows were relaxed during the holidays when the parks were so busy. Whether that has continued or can be expected on a regular basis is unknown. As someone above mentioned, it may also depend on the CM and the attraction.

Was just there beginning of January—I believe it still turned green if we were less than 2 hours late but turned blue when we were 4 hours late one day—didn’t really seem to matter as we were never once denied entry.

It’s been the case since LLMP was introduced. No CM involvement is required, the light simply turns green.

Are you saying return times are relaxed (or enforced) programmatically and not the CM?

We have reports of guests that their return times were relaxed.

So does this mean Disney will relax or enforce return times whenever they choose to?

Is it a fixed 2hr grace or do they relax it when they feel they need to?

As @RememberWhen posted above:

As far as I have experienced, you have almost two hours (I have read 119 minutes) after expiration to tap in. Downside to planning on that: you do not get an MEP if the ride goes down after your LL expiration. So if you’re planning to ride an hour after expiration and it goes down you’re SOL. Otherwise it was consistent for us. Tapped green. No problems.

There appears to be a 2 hr grace period programmed.

That means 2 hrs after the end of the return window. ‘Tho I think it’s actually 1hr 59 minutes.

That’s been tested by Touring Plans users repeatedly.

It could change of course. But currently there’s no CM intervention required.

Ok so when you said in your previous post, "far after our LL hour" it was within 2 hours of your LL return time?

We have "made it work" on this trip, but I would still be very conscious of when I'm traveling to WDW in the future.

I think this is a good summary of using LL as a replacement for DAS, we just got back from our first WDW trip without DAS and we made it work also, LL replaced FP+, which allowed us to book 3-4 longer line rides we knew would be a struggle to wait for, we did rope drop every day to get another “long line” knocked out, and with manageable crowds and chilly weather we had no issues at all related to my GFs health issues.

It worked for us in January, that doesn’t mean it will in July, but at least we now know we can still enjoy the parks in certain conditions.
