This year's stage will be similar to last year's and of years past. Except this year it will sit on the Sorcerer Hat's platform instead of in front of it.

Last year the lighting rig was shaped like the Millennium Falcon, the year before like Darth Vader's TIE fighter. Who knows what this year's will look like? ;)

One of the main reasons things go slower than we would like is lack of resources/vendor availability. There are a limited number of specialized contractors or vendors who are available and certified to do the work. One of problems we run into is simply scheduling availability to get the right people/available workers/equipment in the same place at the right time so that the next phase can continue. There have been many projects over the past 5 years where we've had to delay because we can't get the right combination of people and equipment in for weeks on end. On top of that, if they are needed on a higher profile project or that other project has other work that is being held up, then something like this may get bumped in favor of their being able to do the work on another site on property, knowing this work may not take as long and we can fit it in somewhere soon.

if the demand is high enough contractors will flock to orlando salivating...by your theory an Olympics build out would be impossible.

I'm not talking theory, I'm talking real world experience. It's a limitation we run into constantly. I have many friends and colleagues who have worked on and continue to work on the Olympics and other major events - they run into the same issues. Contractors can come to Orlando or Anaheim all they want, but there are a limited number of companies that TWDC or Universal will work with, and only after assessing the capabilities of the company to make sure they are not going to leave a project hanging or injure someone.
